The Plight of a Barren Woman .........A Nigerian Story Part 2
Monica walked out of the house and she could not just keep her head straight, she slightly escaped accident while driving to her office and she sobbed quietly , arriving at the office she responded to every greeting slightly as she headed straight into her office to start the day's work, she tried to compose herself as much as she could but as much as she tried to hide it, Tina who happened to be her friend and her colleague as well knew that something was wrong, she walked straight into Monica's office to ask her what the problem was.
Monica is a person who values secrets and family matters so she believes that whatever happens at home remains at home ,she did not tell her friend at first but after serious persuasion, she had to disclose to her friend how her mother in law has become a monster overnight because she has not been able to give her husband a child. Her friend tried to calm her down and wipe her tears because she cried as she narrated all that happened herself and her mother in law.
When Monica got back home , she went to apologies to her mother-in law about all that transpired between them earlier in the day, she knelt down, started weeping and then said this words,;''Mama, i understand the fact that you are desperately looking for a grand child but i also want you to realize that there is little or nothing that i can do about the situation, i am not happy as well that i do not have children of my own'' . Her mother in law was moved to tears as she held Monica up and she said these words; Monica my dear, i am so sorry for the way i spoke to you this morning, i only acted out foolishness and frustration. I do hope that you have a place in your heart to forgive me''. She prayed for her seriously that night and they started doing things together, they became really good friends.
Monica greatly cherished all the moments she shared with her mother in law as she was really a shoulder to lean on, she helped her with her house chores and they always had gist for each other .
Monica's mother in law kept on encouraging her any time she felt bad about the fact that she could not give her husband a child and she wished that Eliot's mother could continue living with them, but her mother in law will say she doesn't like the rough city life as she prefers her village life style where everything is fresh and natural.
Eliot came back home one day looking very rough and haggard and the smell oozing out of his body was really bad ........
