YOUR DETERMINATION DETERMINES YOUR DESTINATION
I remember seeing this slogan on a plague in a bank: “great people are ordinary people with extraordinary amount of determination.”
The determination to win is the better part of the winning process.
Sometimes, when things have fallen apart, they may most likely be falling in place.
Henry dyke remarked that, “some succeed because they are destined to but most people succeed because they are determined to.”
Your determination to succeed propels you to quit quitting.
Recall that it was not Orville and Wilbur wright (popularly called the wright brothers) that were the first discovered the airplanes, the man who would have received the credit was Dr Samuel lanley, a professor of Mathematics and astronomy. He stated the project, but after running into obstacles, criticisms and financial setbacks, he gave up, but just after that, the wright brothers who were uneducated and had insufficient funds, celebrated a breakthrough by becoming the first humans to fly a manned plane. What was the difference?.
The wright brothers had what professor Lanley lacked, namely, patience and persistence.
No wonder Thomas Edison told his team: “many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Winston Churchill also told his goal-getting soldiers, “if you are going through hell, keep going.”
Look at the record of some great men who went through “hell” to make history: Leonard Da Vinci worked on the portrait, “the last supper” for 10 years; George Stevenson spent 15 years to perfect the locomotive; good year spent 10 years of study, poverty and public ridicule to discover hard rubber (Goodyear tyre); Noel Webster labored for 36 years writing his dictionary- Webster Dictionary; is it not one of the best dictionaries around today?
Cicero, the great orator, practiced speaking before every day began, for 30 years to perfect his elocution (voice production); plato wrote the first sentence of his famous “Republic” 9 different before he was satisfied.
Are you going through hell due to countless challenges? Keep going, you will soon arrive the mountain top!
Seymour wrote: “the winners in life are people who, above all else, have determination.”
It is your determination that determines your destination. It is determination that guarantees success and prosperity. Stay strong and be unbroken! Know your limitations, and the defy them! Always remember there is no elevation to success.
