Where are the Dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs are prehistoric animals that is believed to have lived the earth during the Mesozoic era “the era of reptiles” the belong to the reptile family although the existed long time ago even before human existence.

So no one knows precisely what colors or patterns they were, how they sounded, how they behaved, how they mated, or even how to tell whether a fossil came from a male or a female dinosaur.
Most people think of dinosaurs as big, ferocious and extinct reptiles, that is largely true, but there are some misconceptions.

Dinosaurs were largest land animals of all times according to research but a great number of dinosaurs were smaller than turkey.
There were lots of different kinds of dinosaurs that lived at different times some were huge, some were small, some walked on two legs, some walked on four, some were speedy, some were slow and lumbering, some were carnivores and some were herbivores, some were armor-plate, some had thick, bumpy skin, some had horns and some even had primitive features
Scientist and artisans have been able to give us several fictional imagery of the different types of dinosaurs that once lived and roam the earth surface before the great event that extinct them.

Fossil or remains of dinosaurs have been able to reveal that of course a creature like dinosaurs have once inhabited the earth some 230 million of years ago. Scientist have been able to classify dinosaurs into various categories based on archeological research although the two basic categories are
Avian dinosaurs (birds)
Non- avian dinosaurs (which are all other dinosaurs other than birds)

BRIEF HISTORY

Dinosaurs belong to the reptile groups of clad Dinosauria they believe to first appear during the “Triassic period” between 241 and 243 million years ago. Although the exact timing of the evolution of dinosaurs is still subject to research.
The first study of dinosaurs by scientist began during the 1820s when they discovered bones of a large land reptile the dubbed a Megalosaurus (big lizard) buried in the English countryside.
The remains of dinosaurs were first studied by RICHARD OWE a Britain leading paleontologist in 1842. He first then coined the term dinosaur an ancient Greek word –Deinos meaning “Terrible” potent or fearfully great and –Sauros meaning “Lizard or Reptile”.

Owen had examined bones from three different creatures –megalosaurus, Iguanodo (“iguana tooth”)
And Hylaeosaurus (“woodland lizard”). Each of them lived on land, was larger than any living reptile, walked with their legs directly beneath their bodies instead of out to the side and had three more
vertebrae in the hips than other know reptiles using this information OWEN determined that the three formed a special group of reptile which he named DINOSAURIA.

Since then, dinosaur fossils have been found all over the world and studied by paleontologist to find out more about the many different types of this creative that existed.

Fossil records have also indicated that birds are modern feathered dinosaurs having evolved from earlier Theropods during the late Jurassic period. At such birds are the only modern day dinosaurs to survive the massive extinction event about 66 million years ago.
Based on the archeological research dinosaurs can therefore be divided into two
*Avian dinosaurs (birds)
*Non-Avian dinosaurs (which are all other dinosaurs other than birds)
However the focus of this research is on the non- Avian dinosaurs.

WHERE DID THE DINOSAURS LIVE

Dinosaurs where believe to be land-dwelling reptiles that walked with an erect stance. Their unique structure caused their legs to stick out from under their bodies. And not sprawl out from the side (like the reptiles)
When dinosaurs first evolved from more primitive archosaurs, they were bipedal (walked on two legs).
Much later, some dinosaur groups returned to a four-legged stance, having hind legs much larger than their front legs.

Evidence: although the best way we have of knowing what creatures were alive on this earth millions of years ago are from studying fossil. Fossils are animal and plant remains buries in the rocks. These remains which have in most cases petrified (turned to stone), may be of shells, insects, leaves, bones whole skeletons or simply the tracks made by ancient animals on the shores of swamps.

From such evidence, scientists believe that dinosaurs roamed the earth about 180,000,000 years ago, and that they died out about 60,000,000 years ago. What fossils have been found that make these scientist believe this? –the most common ones are bones, teeth and claws. From these skeletons can be reconstructed so we can tell how the body was built. In other cases, there have been trails and footprints.
In the Gobi desert of Asia, nests and huge bones of dinosaurs have been found. Scientists have even found potato-shaped fossil eggs laid by dinosaurs with dinosaurs “chicks” almost ready to hatch! In fact, dinosaur fossils have been found on all the continents, including North America. So we must conclude that the dinosaurs lived in practically every part of the world millions of years ago.
Certain conditions were necessary, however, for the dinosaurs to exist. The dinosaurs were reptiles, which mean they were cold-blooded.
Their body temperature changed with the air temperature. Many of them lived in swamps, where the luxuriant vegetation provided them with food.
But the climate of the world underwent a great change about 60 million years ago. Swamps dried up. Lowlands became mountains. The climate became colder and drier. So the dinosaurs not only lost their homes –the swamps and lowlands –but the cooling climate made them sluggish. It also killed off much of the vegetation they lived on.
In time the dinosaurs that were unable to adjust to the new conditions died out and became extinct. They were replaced by warm-blooded animals with larger brains and the capacity to get along under the new and changing conditions.

WHERE ARE THE DINOSAURS

Birds are the only surviving avian dinosaurs as all non-Avian dinosaurs have been extinct as a result of the massive extinction event.
