Thanks @marxrab

Yes thank you @marxrab for the wonderful post where you were talking about the world weeping due to the harm we humans cause.

People Are Pigs

People are indeed pigs. If you dont believe me, all one need do is visit our local park after a holiday like the Fourth of July. The amount of trash piled in containers is staggering. The amount still on the ground is more so. The idea that humans cause harm is simply irrefutable. Perhaps, Mother Nature weeps for the damage we cause, much like the ad from my youth that shows the Native American Indian weeping when he surveys the litter and trash we continual leave behind.

Maybe Mother Nature Weeps for Us?

Yes I believe Mother Nature does indeed weep, yet might it be for us instead of about us? Maybe Mother Nature knows our time is short...short in terms of her four billion years of life spent and about as much yet to go. She has seen so many life forms come and go...as we will as well. Then every shred of evidence of man's existence, save some long half life radioactive materiel, will relatively soon disappear. After all whats a million years, or ten million, compared to the eons. Or in the voice of Carl Sagan, compared to billions of years.

Speaking of Sagan

If you have never heard Sagan's Pale Blue Dot, it is well worth the four minutes!

Thanks for stopping by!

The sense of responsibility must be educated to people starting from the younglings.

Carl Sagan summed up in 4 minutes our fate. We will go the way of the Dodo because of our own behaviors. Shame I liked the Earth. Great and timely post @old-guy-photos resteemed.

Question: My voting power is down at 65%? so I'm going to stop voting until it picks up. Is that a good idea? Any suggestions?

Thank you for sharing Pale Blue Dot. I had not seen it before. Here is astronaut's Chris Hadfield's perspective after seeing Earth from space

"Of course – most people see the world in the area they’re familiar with, and then the rest of it is sort of theoretical, or a distant unknown. To go around the world thousands of times, like I have, you really get to know the world for what it truly is, with its infinite variety and its amazing ability to self-heal, but also the damage that we’re inflicting to it.

But that didn’t make me pessimistic. Even though there are seven billion of us on the surface, we all tend to crowd into the same little spots, so much of the world is still dark and natural. We’re definitely having a significant effect on the world, but the world is also vast and ancient. I think that’s an important perspective for us to have."

We ALL need to take better care of where we live... 🌼

Yes indeed I agree with that!

😔 Give life 🌱

We all need to step and take care of our Mother Earth. Teach your children well. It wasn't just a song. ;)

Upped and Steemed

Hey you know some CSN&Y. Why you are full of surprises! I remember when I was quite young, I bought a used vinyl album of Déjà Vu. So many classics on there!

Everybody knows that song! ☺ and I love it!

.. pretty much sums it up!

A great post will check the Sagan video. Shortly
But yes Mother Nature will survive what ever we do and recover with time

We on the other hand do not have time we need to start acting nowbto preserve the plant so that we can survive

Thank you, have never seen the pale blue dot. Quite frightening what's happening to our planet! Here in South Africa it's a huge problem everywhere; litter on our beaches, which ends up in the ocean, the inner cities' sidewalks are filthy at the end of a weekend, blocking stormwater systems, and when the grass is cut along the highways, litter is revealed. Education from a young age is vital and many NGO's are doing that together with the authorities but it is a massive task! Sadly I must agree @oldtimers, nature indeed weeps about us!

I agree litter is a problem that is totally frustrating because it is not like something beyond us is doing it to us, we do the harm to ourselves and it is maddening!
Yes Carl Sagan's always is humbling and shows us from a perspective we don't usually think about.
Great comment and I followed and upped.

Thank you :-)

That commercial should be played for infinity. People now longer have respect for any "thing" or any "one" any "more." It is so very sad to see mother earth being treated so badly. Great post!

Thank you. Yeah that ad made a lasting impression on me even after all these years.

ahhh I have to respectfully disagree about people being pigs.... I know there are some people that need a few good lessons in this world, but I prefer to think of the human race as a wonderful source of love, creativity, imagination and possibilities.

For every atrocious, unthoughtful or despicable act, I would bet there are 100 acts (or more) of beauty and love. There are certainly things we need to change, but I believe we are getting there.

A friend of a friend was talking to my other half this weekend. He asked my other half, "How many children do you have?" To which my other half replied, "3".

This guy's response was "So you think you're genes are that important then? I think one child is too many. Human beings are a ruining the earth."

What a crap thing to say to a father of three children! It really got my goat.

Anyway, thanks for this post. It got me thinking! And I do absolutely agree about litter bugs - they infuriate me!!

First great comment and I upped it and followed.

Second I actually agree with you. For me it depends on the day whether its more of a "cup half full" kind of day. I guess I should have said many people are pigs. I am an optimistic realist. I even agree with your ratio of 100-1 decent deeds to bad. Its just some of the good goes unnoticed yet often the bad takes center stage.
Finally, I agree that is a very crap thing to say. Even if the person feels that way they must never heard the lesson from Thumper in Bambi when he says "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all."!!!

Haha, lessons from Bambi, who woulda thought! Thanks very much @old-guy-photos. I'm just starting to experiment with speaking my mind on social media (not something I bother doing on facebook!).

And yup, definitely does depend on the day for me too if I'm honest. Or more specifically it depends on how much sleep I've had. :) Cheers again.
