Light energy is known to every person from the moment of birth. Thanks to solar energy, life arose on Earth. The bonfire of primitive man, coal burning in blast furnaces, the fuel of a space rocket - all this is light energy, once stored by plants and animals.
There are various sources of light energy: the sun, stars and the moon, bonfire, chemiluminescent plants, animals. In our time, the Sun remains the main and most important source of energy around the globe.

Light energy is a type of kinetic energy that has the ability to make the type of light visible to the human eye. Light is defined as a form of electromagnetic radiation emitted by hot objects such as lasers, bulbs, and the sun.
Light consists of photons that are minute packets of energy. When atoms of an object are heated, it produces photons and in this way photons are produced. Electrons get excitation from heat and earn extra energy. Energy is released in the form of a photon and more photons come out as the material heats up.
Light emits as a wave while traveling. However, nothing is necessary to carry the energy along to travel. This is why light can travel in space where there is no air. This is not the case with sound waves because they have to travel through solids, liquids, or gases. Light energy is very fast and travels faster than anything. The speed of light is equal to 186,282 mph.
The Sun emits large amounts of electromagnetic radiation. Man is able to see only a fraction of this energy known as 'visible light'. The way solar energy travels is expressed as waves. Scientists can calculate the amount of energy of a wave by measuring the speed of the wave and the distance between successive points of the wave.
Visible light constitutes only one of the many types of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the Sun. The electromagnetic spectrum is defined as the range of all possible frequencies of radiation. It reflects various types of electromagnetic radiation from the Sun, including ultraviolet rays and X-rays.
Different types of radiant energy from the Sun have been differentiated within the electromagnetic spectrum and the difference between wavelengths indicates the amount of energy they carry.

Light is the only source of food production for all living organisms. Every organism, except certain chemical substances, is dependent on its energy and light for food. Example - Photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is the processing of inorganic substances into organic ones using special pigments. Thanks to this phenomenon, plants feed and supply the planet with oxygen. The easiest way to understand what photosynthesis is using this picture:

Under the influence of these rays, oxygen and glucose are synthesized from water and carbon dioxide.

It was thanks to photosynthesis that the evolution of bacteria into more complex organisms became possible, thus, the solar energy became one of the sources of nutrition for countless organisms.

Any organism is able to see objects around them due to the presence of eyes. But they can be useless without lights. The eyes acquire the image when light falls on it and information is sent to the brain. Therefore, light let us see the objects around us.
