Wow! What a game that was. I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was confident we would win even when we were trailing by 1 goal. I was a bit nervous in all honesty when they buried their free-kick and I was hoping for that last goal and it came.

The two goals Southampton scored were a piece of individual brilliance and I would be honest, I was far more than impressed. They attacked without fear and you could see the self-belief in the players too. Lukaku turned up big time and Andreas Pereira gave belief to the team with an exquisite goal. I would love to watch that goal over and over again. Luke Shaw was expecting the ball on the flank, only for Andreas to drive in and unleash a delightful finish. What a way to come back into the game.

Lukaku showed why he deserved to be in the team with a wonderful placed finish. He turned in the box and buried the ball into the bottom corner. The third goal which was his second of the night came when I wasn’t even expecting him to shoot and he did. Preparation met with opportunity and he carved it out. Lukaku impressed me tonight and I totally enjoyed it.

Another player who impressed was Andreas. You know how we haven’t seen the best of him yet and he turned up to warm his way into the heart of the United fans. He was sloppy with some passes but then, he was let off due to that delightful finish. Fred came on too and he provided the assist for Lukaku’s second goal; which was United’s third of the night.

The only thing I didn’t like about the game was when Rashford won a penalty and Pogba took the penalty instead of Lukaku. It wasn’t a question of if he hadn’t lost it, but even if he had scored it, I would still not have been happy. Lukaku already scored two goals, we got a penalty, it would have been logical to allow Lukaku to take it and score his hat-trick, or even if he had lost it, all he needed was that support, love and confidence but Pogba denied him of that and still eventually lost the penalty. I was really angry about that.

United showed the fight that was needed and I must say, this is the United I want to see; that will show immediate response even when they are down by goals. I still wish they would allow De Gea to keep more clean sheets anyway.
