Life After Mourinho
It has been a wonderful moment for Manchester United fans all over the world because the attacking football we seek is back. It is only two games, yes but the signs have been positive. It is what the fans seek and now the smiles are back.
I said it the last time that Mourinho is not a bad coach but his methods are outdated and alien to Manchester United Football Club. A coach needs to evolve, reinvent and change tactics but not Mourinho; he is used to his outdated ways and wouldn’t budge. How do you plan on using an attacking player as a defensive tool? Players with flair should be allowed to express themselves and show their creativity, which will not only improve them as players but will be better in the long run for the growth of the football club.
I have issues with a coach that is always referring to his past achievements rather than seek for new ways to improve. The kind of tactics that worked 5 years ago might no longer work in this modern day era.
The attacking flair is back and everyone is excited. The goals are coming in thick and with efforts and you can see the excitement on the faces of the players as they are enjoying themselves. Now, the players are the first to score compared to when they have to allow the opponents to play, score them and start looking for ways to overturn the scores. They start every match now with attacking intent and the confidence is better now.
This is the Manchester United we want to see and it doesn’t matter that they are only two games in already, I am happy with their desire, determination and confidence. For the first time this season, I actually watched a Manchester United game. I lost interest in watching their games right from pre-season when they played Liverpool and they lost 4-1. It wasn’t the loss that demotivated me, but the words coming out of the mouth of our now ex-coach; Jose Mourinho. I anticipated this before now and I just detached myself from such a negative way of playing football. Mourinho might have won the Europa League trophy, but as a fan, I wasn’t entirely happy with how they won it. Ajax deserved it but then football is a result business and it was the same result that got him out as Manchester United head coach.
