Lessons Gathered All Around On Steemit.

Dear Steemian,

Hello, this is Olawalium again and i just need to reiterate some points and information to you about how to have a better start and mindset on Steemit.

The Bible is really complete. It says: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and every other thing would be added unto you". I would love to take this in context to Steemit.

There is no denying most of us, (myself included) joined due to the lure of the money and to get some additional source of income. When you focus on this for too long, you might get discouraged and loose belief in the platform. The problem isn't with the platform, the problem is with not being flexible with your approach. I joined last year November, i did my introductory post which fetched me a whooping; $0.12 (😂😂😂😂😂😂). Exactly. Whooping indeed. I was really discouraged. In our group, i do get disturbed and pulled the "loyalty" card, as to why others are not upvoting. It drove me to go out there and make my presence felt (in @surpassinggoogle's voice and words). From that moment onward, my mentality changed. Now, i want to read and learn as much as i could, meet as many people as i can, honestly give my opinion and comments on what people post, and appreciate people; (not because i want to have them give upvotes) because i really want to touch lives, as i know i have a way with words and i do honestly value words, more reason i don't throw it out anyhow. If i don't feel something, i won't even say it.

I moved out there searching for tags of my interest that i could learn from and give my own assessments in the comment section which most people do acknowledge and appreciate. Then my interest in posting increased more and this time, not bothered about how many cents it produces. I focus more on what the few people in the comment section has to say and it delights me to read them. I wish i have a massive Steem Power, i would have upvoted those comments in a massive way, to encourage people reading through a post and welcome suggestions, not just the usual "Nice post", "Really insightful" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 when they actually didn't read through because they felt lazy to read lengthy messages. 😂😂😂😂; something my dear friend @swissclive frown seriously at and i love her stance on this too.

It gave me a new thing to live for. @thankgodikkc said something this morning that triggered what i have learned and brought them to the surface. I think he said and i quote: "Sometimes you should treat Steemit like facebook, post and don't worry about the rewards, and he is right. With Facebook, we just want to share our ideas and pictures with the world without expecting anything much in return (maybe that is why people just upvote here without reading contents since you can like on Facebook too and not read the actual content 😂😂😂😂). I hail thee!

What Mr. @thankgodikkc said re-echoed what another good friend of mine told me @heart-to-heart. (I met her through my numerous search too) and she has been amazingly nice. Very free and ready to give advice. She told me two days ago about how she became a millionaire with Steemit and the lessons she learned. (Go through her timeline and read it). She ended on a good note in our chats by saying i should be content in pouring my heart out, that in due time the reward will come. I felt excited. Just what i needed to hear. We all need a bit of encouragement once in a while, yes, even the best of minds.

Now, this brings me back to powering up, which is increasing your Steem Power, which gives you the right to have a weighty vote. When you seek relevance and ofcourse think more long term, everything you are chasing now will come back to you without stress or without thinking about it. When you invest in Steem, by converting your SBD (Steem Dollars) into Steem and then to Steem Power, you are building yourself and secretly investing for the future without you knowing it. With more Steem Power comes more controlling influence. If everyone keeps doing cash outs without reinvesting in the platform, how will the ecosystem run? Some people sacrificed and now they are being rewarded because the price of Steem keeps increasing and it will increase even the more. Now is the time to invest in Steem before it increases and you will need a lot of SBDs to get them by that time.
@surpassinggoogle said (you should go through his blog page too and read full details), "Before Steemit, you were feeding, so with Steemit, you will still feed" only if we think long term and bear the sacrifice now. Sacrifice always speak!.

You were thinking, how then will i retrieve my Steem that i have invested in Steem Power? You can choose to power down by the time the price has gone so high and you wish to make your profit. From the Steem Power button down, you will see the power down option there. That is the smartest way to make your money in the long run and also build yourself up on Steemit. Don't stay contented with increasing in "rank" and not in "value", either to yourself or others. Give something back. I wish i bought more Steem for my power up back then when i did, but better late than never, right? Since then, the value of Steem keeps jumping [from the 600 naira (Nigerian currency) which i know it to be back then in November, to over 2,000 naira now.] Mind the gap!.

I am building my Steem Power too, and i will get there. You will have to refer back to this post in not too distant future. Baby steps, but i will get there. Any opportunity i have, i am powering up.

My over all advice would be: Focus on making lives better than you met it. Help build others up. Focus on the long term. Think investment. Act smart. Do it now. Change your mindset to avoid feeling discouraged. Think community. Make friends. Be out there. Make your presence felt like fragrance. Think of others which in the long run still means you are thinking of yourself (Smart huh?).
