Proverbs 14:23

“In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”

“The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.” 2 Tim 2:6

Hard work is a virtue that we need to cultivate as believers. We were told that those who do not work should not eat, according to 2 Thessalonians 3:10.

Hard work is the antidote for a hard life. Without hard work, nothing grows in a garden but weeds. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Those who win in life embrace hard work, those who do not see it as punishment, they avoid anything that is difficult and eventually end where the majority of those who love comfort end.

One of the things Paul did was to work harder than those who were ahead of him. He ensured that the grace of GOD upon him was not in vain, the result – two thirds of the New Testament delivered to the benefit of the church till today. By working hard, you allow the results possible by grace to be multiplied in you.

It is good and important to make plans, but plans are only good intentions until they are backed with the appropriate efforts and actions required.

Life does not reward intentions but actions. A lot of hard work is concealed behind a lot of nice things you see around be it a working device, a working home or a working nation.

Successful people are not only gifted, they also work hard and they succeed on purpose.

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (MSG)

Remember: The duller the ax the harder the work; Use your head: The more brains, the less muscle.

To make rapid progress in life, it is not enough to only work hard we also need to learn to work smart. Working smart means finding ways to make work easier.

A dull ax means harder work. It doesn’t matter that you spent countless hours cutting the tree with the dull ax, taking the initiative to stop and sharpen the axe will save you a lot of effort and a lot of time.

Are there areas of your life and your work that you need to rethink today? Do you give adequate time for planning and preparation before jumping into execution?

Also, after executing, do you take time to reflect and ask yourself the question of what could have been done better? Do you pay attention to what you might need to change when next you try again?

So regularly consider how you manage your time and your resources to achieve results. Measure progress and not just the time that you spent working.

Combine hard work with smart work and you will achieve extraordinary results.
