Halloween or ‘Hell E'n’?
Why do People Celebrate Halloween?
Many people celebrate halloween and it seems especially big in America, even though it originated from Ireland as ‘Hallow E’en’ from the pagan festival of ‘All Hallows Eve’.
It was and still is believed by many that the veil between the worlds or dimensions of the living and the dead is thin on Halloween, making it easier for spirits to return to earth and walk among the living.
Now those souls that had happily found their way to Heaven were and are not the ones coming back, so those spirits that are coming back are ones that have not found their way to Heaven and most likely don’t have the best of intentions!
Irish folklore says that people would leave out food and light candles in the hope that this would ward off the evil spirits and they would be left alone. Turnips and rutabagas were root vegetables that were carved out, as pumpkins are today, again to ward off evil spirits.
Ward Off Evil Spirits
It appears then that halloween is about warding off evil spirits on a night when they are thought to come back to earth in large numbers, due to a thinning of the veil between earth and spirit world.
Knowing this information, does it seem like a good idea to dress yourself or child in a costume that depicts evil spirits and the underworld?
Then to allow your children to go knocking on doors of houses to ask for candy and sweets?
Seems to me that all common sense has gone totally out the window! On the one night of the year when invisible energies are more prevalent and more likely to cause problems, people act in a way that is celebrating and drawing them in.
Normal Behaviour
If you would not allow your child to do something, then ‘Halloween’ does not suddenly make it acceptable or ok to do it!
If you wouldn’t allow your child to knock on strangers doors and eat sweets or candy from unknown people then it’s NOT ok to do this on halloween and yet . . . . . . society has been programmed to think this is ok, it’s fun and all children should do this.
As with anything in life, we need to discern and feel what feels right, safe and good for us and our children.
Do you know exactly what your children:
- Will be doing?
- Where they will be going?
- And what they may be eating or drinking at Halloween?
Doing anything that can create an altered state is really not a good idea at halloween, so drugs, alcohol, etc are to be avoided because evil spirits can enter a human body much more easily if the person is not totally conscious and aware.
If you enjoy celebrating halloween, then make sure all that you do is safe and you are fully aware of what is really going with invisible energies and spirits on this one night of the year, which is a party / recruitment night for them. Do you want to be recruited by evil spirits or have your children recruited? Nope I don't think so! Please do be aware, because afterwards is too late!
I've read differing figures on whether more children go missing on halloween, so I don't know if they do or not, but finding them has to be much harder on halloween with all the costumes than any other night of the year.
Awareness and knowledge can save lives!
