Baluarte
This photo was taken in Oslob, Cebu during our tour for our Humanities class. We went to the southern parts of Cebu for a day.
Oslob is famous for their whaleshark watching, and great beaches! Tourists line up early for the whaleshark watching. But our tour wasn't about those. It was about the historical places of Cebu so we visited some, and this was one of the places that we went to.
This is the 'baluarte' which is spanish for watchtower. It was actually built in 1788. According to my little research, it served as a safe place and defense system to dispel the Moro raiders.
I only took a picture of the upper part so I can include the sky. It looks more dramatic hehe.
Aside from the Baluarte, there's also the Cuartel and the Church of the Immaculate Conception. I wasn't able to take pictures of it. But the Church of the Immaculate Conception is made of coral stones!!!
At the end of the tour, I was able to learn more about Cebu - the history and all. It was a fun and tiring day, but definitely a fun way to learn!
When you want to visit Cebu, you can go the northside or southside. Don't just stay in the city! Travel more. There's still a lot to see!
Passing by and Upvoted you :) !
