Your Android Device Can Be Hackers

in #android8 years ago

A backdoor was discovered on Android devices through the EngineerMode application.
OnePlus can remember the anxiety of having a rear door on its own devices in the recent past. Utilizing a system application called EngineerMode, security researcher Robert Baptiste was able to access the devices from the root and publish their findings. OnePlus said it would remove the adb root function, which is responsible for future updates, even though it is not considered a "major security issue".

Using Twitter nickname Elliot Alderson (TV show Mr Robot), Baptiste discovered the same door on another device. Baptiste said he could determine the root privilege of the EngineerMode application, but the researcher has not yet determined whether it can be exploited. Baptiste, who identified the same number of openings on 40 phones, also said it was the same on other Android phones.

I can not say that you are safe because you have not completed the researches that have been discovered after the open exploration. However, we will follow developments regarding the situation and we will try to notify you if there is any new development. A backdoor that accesses root privileges can access and use any information that your device requires if malicious people use it.
