Where is God when we hurt?

Yesterday one of my Facebook friends made a post asking why God would allow bad things happen to good people. A lot of Christians gave their answers, but neither the man who made the post nor myself was satisfied with the answers.

I follow the thread when he made that post because I was about posting similar thing before I stumbled on his page. Unfortunately, I got no answer there and I'm redirecting the question to this place.

Where is God when his servants (children) hurt?

I am a practicing Christian and I'll like to direct this question to Christians on Steem. Please I need forward answers and I'll appreciate every meaningful contribution.

And if anyone wants to tell me it's a trial of faith, I'll like the person to explain how long a trial of faith is supposed to last.

I just want to keep holding on.
