Understanding Poetry #16: Holding On
Quit condemning me
For you have not lived through my experiences.
Till you walk the road I have trod,
Do not assume the all-knowing stance.
My feet bleeds,
My heart aches
And the pains I feel find release through tears.
But I know for sure
The rainy days do not last forever
Tomorrow, the sun will shine
And then,
I'll smile at the dawn of a new day.
Nurturing hope one moment to another
That the dark days will surely fade away.
I'll live to tell stories
Of the disappointments I have faced
And how perseverance became my shadow
Till I could savor the sweet taste of victory.
One thing's for sure
He will always be there for me
So, I'll keep pushing
Knowing that God's got my back.
