Five grasshoppers
Grasshoppers are everywhere in The Netherlands at the moment; when you don't see them, you still hear them.
Here are three I saw the other day:
The common green grasshopper (Omocestus viridulus), wekkertje in Dutch:

Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/125s
The meadow grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus), krasser in Dutch:

Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO160, f5.6, 1/500s
The bog meadow bush-cricket (Metrioptera brachyptera), heidesabelsprinkhaan in Dutch:

Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO200, f8, 1/60s
Two older photos; the rare large marsh grasshopper (Stethophyma grossum), moerassprinkhaan in Dutch:

Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f6.3, 1/100s
The huge great green bush-cricket (Tettigonia viridissima), grote groene sabelsprinkhaan in Dutch:

Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO200, f6.3, 1/200s

I love the green head the third one has there.
Looks funky! ;)
Great shots!
that would be a good feast for me. it is bit hard to find a big one now here.
when i was a child my father would catch a lot of them,,and fried them for our meals.
Also here in Italy therea re many Grasshoppers at the moment and they "sing" for hours and hours ^_^
It's a nice sound of summer, as long as they don't keep you awake 8-).
Great shots. From me apvote.
Our grasshoppers pale in comparison! What beautiful bugs! Upvoted & resteemed.
Thanks!
Surely, there must be various grasshoppers in California?
In my neighborhood, I have only seen small brown grasshoppers. I am sure they are cool looking up close but I haven't taken the time to do that. I think I have seen a decent sized green one once...years ago. I will keep searching. :)
These are just beautiful!
The second grasshopper is so cute!
Good close up shot of the grass hoppers
