Pregón de la media naranja

Compradores de naranjas en Córdoba

Llévese a casa
por dos cuartillos
media docena de ricas naranjas
antes de lavarlas
lave primero sus manos
con agua abundante
luego córtelas
con un cuchillo limpio
por el ecuador
sobre un listón de madera
exprima ahora
en un fino tamiz
apriete sus dedos
dulcemente
hasta extraer la última gota
del caldo dorado
aspire el aroma
de su resina azahar
luego llene el cáliz
de dos copas de cristal
con el elixir puro
dé un toque ligero
muy leve a sus bocas
hágale un guiño
a su media naranja
y un brindis al amor.

Buyers of oranges in Córdoba

Take yourself home
by two quarts
half a dozen rich oranges
before washing
wash your hands first
with plenty of water
then cut them off
with a clean knife
on the equator
on a strip of wood
press now
on a fine sieve
squeeze your fingers
sweetly
until the last drop is extracted
of the golden broth
breathe in the aroma
of its orange blossom resin
then fill the chalice
from two crystal glasses
with the pure elixir
give it a whirl
very slight to their mouths
wink at it
to your better half
and a toast to love.
