Report as Steem Representative, 24.06.2024

Hello, dear readers!

I don't have anything particularly interesting to include in this report this week. Everything I do here on Steemit can be conveniently seen in my profile, the Steemit Google Ads promotion campaign is still ongoing and it is too early to discuss its results, so let this report be presented in the form of reflections.

This month, all curation teams are working under new rules, or rather, almost no rules. This is an extremely interesting experience that expands the possibilities of the curator, and at the same time puts more responsibility on his shoulders. I've been a curator for a long time, but this month I had an observation, or rather a feeling. It seems to me that the club system is losing its importance. Currently, when rewarding posts, curators are guided by the quality of the content, or rather their own impression of a particular post, rather than other factors, such as the club system or burning tokens. This is great, and it brings us one step back to the basic idea behind this blockchain, but it can also have some drawbacks.

I still think that the introduction of the club system was one of the most ingenious solutions, which required no development, no resources, but at the same time allowed to revive the interaction between authors not only through commenting, but also through voting. I am sure that thanks to the club system we got dozens of orcas and hundreds of dolphins. At the same time, I'm also sure that on a more global scale, this has not affected the price of STEEM in any way, since the main role is played there by the bigger players.

The club system also has a number of disadvantages:

  • authors can withdraw a smaller number of rewards, and therefore, at this particular time, their earnings are less, although the money remains theirs in the form of Steem Power;
  • determination of the club is quite complicated and I still see dozens of cases when the moderators are wrong (for example, a person who does not transfer tokens to the exchange, but distributes STEEM as prizes, is considered in the club75, although he should be in the club100);
  • people avoid making any payments from their wallet for fear of leaving the club, which significantly reduces the potential of Steem wallets.

Due to these and other shortcomings, the club system negatively affects the attractiveness of Steemit compared to competing platforms, and it was also negatively perceived by old Steemians. The Steemit team has now taken a step towards abolishing the club system by allowing the curation teams to vote on all non-plagiarized and non-AI posts. It would seem that this is a long-awaited and correct step. But the question arises: how to further stimulate authors to develop their accounts? I am convinced that neither curation rewards nor interaction with the community will be as effective incentives as votes from large curation accounts.

What happens when the club system is officially abolished? Are we going to go back to the state of this platform where all the votes for your post were 0 cents because none of the readers had enough SP? Maybe it's time to reform the club system or replace it with something new?

The hypothetical abolition of the club system opens up new advantages for Steem over competitors, but at the same time there are fears that there will be almost no people left who will develop their accounts. This is the first time I have no suggestions and I would like to hear from readers what they think about this.

Maybe the SP requirements to be Community Curators, Steem Reps and in Teaching Teams etc will encourage people to continue to develop their Steem Power...

Interesting opinion. This will probably work for the most active community cell. I also see the important role of communities in this. Some communities actively promote Power Up. Let's hope for the best. After all, in the "old Steemit" there were no clubs, but people actively developed accounts and also bought STEEM.
