Biriya Forest - MotorTrip
As the weather cooled down a bit, the riders group I'm in decided to take on a short trip - 180km give or take.
We ended up in Biriya Forest.
The forest is not natural, and it was mostly planted in forestry efforts made in the 1950s by the Jewish National Fund.
Biriya Forest is a forest in the Upper Galilee, covering 20,000 dunams.
The forest, the second largest in the State of Israel, is located on the slopes of the Galilee mountains north of Zefat city.
The forest consists mainly of pine trees, especially Jerusalem pine, but also planted with cedar, cypress, and peanut trees.
During the Second Lebanon War, hundreds of Katyushas fell in the forest, causing fires that consumed about 5% of the forest trees.
Rehabilitation work is underway, which will take place over many years.
Unfortunately, I forgot my Canon PowerShot at home so I took a couple of pictures with my good ol' LG G6+.
Enjoy!
