During the first days, weeks, and months a sight to behold is how a mother puts her newborn child to sleep. At the close of each day, one of the most mesmerizing moments would be looking at the change in the baby’s breathing pattern with each passing hour as they slowly drift into a deep slumber. It is important to note, however, that newborns may sleep for most hours of the day, say 16 to 18 hours with naps spread throughout the day, as this is crucial for their growth and development.

A baby notice’s the book being read or singing a song is perhaps a favorite of the parent and thus knows that it is time to sleep. And what does a mother do in these quieter hours when the baby needs to be fed and pampered only once or twice? Staring at the little tongue sticking out during a yawn, accompanied by a happy sigh every few minutes is enough to leave any parent speechless. Being quiet even for a few seconds is a great way to ease the discomfort between parents as every word spoken can take away more than what was reconstructed during the shaking head.
While experiencing sleepless nights has its fair share of downside, the reward that comes with seeing a newborn peacefully asleep is quite unmatched. These first few weeks and months are quite short-lived and therefore, each episode of cuddling and cooing at night will be a treasured recollection for a long time to come.
