Surprisingly Useful Things You Can Do With Ketchup Beside Eat It

in #life8 years ago

Most households have ketchup on hand, so in a pinch you can use ketchup for the following purposes. Or you might choose to use these hacks permanently.

Shine copper pots and silverware. Ketchup is cheap and eco-friendly. Due to its acetic acid content it is a surprisingly good item to use to shine copper and silverware. Just don't leave it on too long as it could begin to damage the metal.

Repair blonde hair damaged by chlorine. Wet hair and use ketchup in place of shampoo. Let it set for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it out thoroughly. Shampoo and condition as normal.

Create your own facial scrub. Add a tablespoon of ketchup with three fake sugar packets and stir. Gently apply it to your face and leave it for about a minute. Wash it away with cool water. Much cheaper than store bought facial scrubs!

Use as a shaving cream. My dad told stories of using ketchup in place of shaving cream while in the war. Smooth on a thin layer over the area needing to be shaved. Shave and then rinse well. [You might want to wash after, too].

Soothe insect bites. The salt content in Ketchup can draw out some of the inflammation of insect bites. So dab a bit on the bites! [Of course if you are still outside it might attract more bugs].

Take rust off of furniture. The natural acids of ketchup will neutralize the rust. Rub ketchup on the furniture frame. When the rust becomes like powder, rinse it off with water.

Let me know if you have found other uses for ketchup!
