SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry - Decrepit flour mill
2AM in a tiny rural MN town, not a sound except the rain outside, as we explored an abandoned flour mill.
This was my first urbex (urban exploration) back in 2006. We arrived in the town around 1am and bought a few snacks at the store before heading off into the darkness. To avoid unwanted police attention, we had to find the tunnel entrance without our headlamps. Once inside, pigeons exploded into a flurry of sound and motion, scaring the hell out of us as they blasted by inches from our heads. We were now left alone in an eerie silence with only the gentle tap of light rain outside. We stealthily walked from floor to floor, using our red headlamps sparingly. The yellow streetlights outside casting shadows through all the broken windows. After an hour or 2, we slipped out as undetected as we came, back into civilization.

I was just now googling the mill, remembering the night, and found a VERY similar picture to the above. While reading the article, I realized it was the other urbex photographer that I had explored it with! Here are the pictures he took that night, and info about the mill itself: http://substreet.org/red-river-milling-co/

Very cool. Love the shadows, colours. Killer shot.
Thanks! I can't believe my DRebel was able to get that shot in such low light/long exposure. Cameras have sure come a long way since then.
love the contrast of the glass/broken glass
Wow that photo is unreal man ! :)
Similar to the scenery in the theater
