📸 Moonrise - Original work.

in #photography8 years ago

This is one of my favorite pictures I've taken. It almost looks like a painting. It was during the Perseid meteor shower, and I was scouting locations to try and capture the meteors. The moon was rising on the horizon over Lake Superior, and a few clouds were in front of it. I was worried these clouds/haze was going to ruin the rest of my night shooting, but luckily it stayed only on the horizon. The red haze slightly blocking the moon makes it almost look like the sun rising, but it is in fact the moon (you can see stars up top)

My 2nd shot looks more like the moon and stars for anyone doubting :p

Wow, your photo faforit looks like a painting, right what you say. If not reading it first would have thought this was happening in the morning at sunset. Amazing of this post you, I am motivated to find photos as great as this. Let's come to me to advise you on the photography I post.

thank you :) And yeah, just get out there and fire off some shots! You never know what awesome scenery there is if you aren't out in the wild with your camera ;)

Beautiful photos. Usually people sleep in the mornings or run to work, so they do not raise their heads up. And in vain. What beauty surrounds us in the mornings and we do not notice the evening.@lena1

Exactly. I had to stay out very late (I got home after a few hour drive and the sun was coming up)

Yeah, I thought the same when I saw it - it looks like a painting from a fairytale book! Gorgeous

Wow, this is very beautiful !!!

Thank you! I spent a weekend up north alone, staying up until sunrise to get these, it was a lot of work and I'm glad other people besides myself are enjoying them :)

Unusual but very nice photos for a 50mm lens ;) I'm an astrophotographer too... Voted and followed ;)

These are great shots! Very interesting with the coloring, you would never know it was the moon. :)

thank you :) yeah I was really worried about how bright the moon was and that it would ruin my star shots, but that haze was a lifesaver and it turned out pretty good :)
