I have three types of Marigold flowers growing in my garden, and all types are in different colors. I have struggled to grow them as they are from a lower altitude, and despite planting a lot, only a few have bloomed.
Took these pictures today and hope you like them.
All photos have been touched-up, scaled in size and taken with my mobile camera,
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
The first type of my Marigolds! The ones on the left are more yellow as compared to the ones on the right, which is almost Orange in color.
The second type. Notice how the flower is completely different, whereas the plant and the leaves look the same
The third type which grows at the edge of my property and you can see my neighbors Buddhist prayer flags at the back!
Marigold flowers blooming over my walk-way. Notice the difference in colors.

they have a good smell
those are gran's fave
They do smell nice, but the 2nd and the 3rd types above have a faint smell. Wish I could send some to your gran!
There are so many varieties of marigolds -- it makes them fun to grow and see their different personalities. You say you have trouble getting them to bloom, but your gardens look full of flowers to me, lol. If you save some seed, maybe over the years you will select for genetics that like your specific conditions. Marigolds are pretty easy to save seed from.
I do save the seeds and have never bought any. But we do have some varieties which have trouble growing/blooming at my altitude and does well in the lower hills.
Though my garden seems full of flowers, it is only about a third of the amount I planted! :))
It's a good thing you save seeds, then -- so you can plant a lot and get all those beautiful flowers to share with us! : D
Glad you liked them, thanks!
You're welcome!
