WHERE IS JACK MA?

Jack Ma hasn’t made any public appearance in the last two months and this has raised a lot of eye brows.

The high-profiled Chinese businessman failed to make it to the Africa’s Business Heroes sponsored by him as scheduled. Ma was supposed to be part of the panel of judges at the finals of the talent hunt but was represented by an Alibaba representative. His photograph was also taken off the competition's site.

The business tycoon's absence was attributed to a schedule conflict as reported by an Alibaba spokesman.

Ma’s business has been under immense pressure after his criticism of the Chinese Government, which has led many to attribute his alleged disappearance to troubles with the Chinese Government.

“Today’s financial system is the legacy of the Industrial Age,” Ma said at a conference in Shanghai in late October.

“We must set up a new one for the next generation and young people. We must reform the current system.”

A few weeks after this statement Ant’s(Alibaba's financial affiliate) IPO which is valued at $37 billion was suspended, even after getting a greenlight from the Chinese security regulators. Chinese regulators have criticized the company for unhealthy competition and infringing consumer rights.

It was also reported that the Ant Group was summoned by the People`s Bank of China and the Central Bank of China as regards the ongoing investigation of regulatory violation by fintech companies.

According to Mark Mobius:

“I believe the Chinese government stepped in because they realized that they had to regulate these companies so that they don’t … get too big,”

The rumour about Ma’s disappearance has sparked a social outrage and people are calling on the Chinese Government to provide information about Ma’s whereabouts.

There is no substantial evidence or official report on Ma's alleged disappearance.
