CURRENT STATE OF MIND

in #thoughts6 years ago (edited)

These are just my thoughts and not facts

In my 8months journey in the crypto space, I have encountered a number of individuals. For the purpose of this post, I am going to put them into three categories:

The optimists
The pragmatists
The pessimists

I will illustrate briefly how conversations between these three categories of persons occur.

Optimists: wow! This is a great project. It will succeed

Pessimist: never! Are you blind?! Can't you see all the loopholes?

Pragmatist: yes, it's a great project, not without loopholes of course. But I think we follow this path we will achieve our goal.

Pessimist: never going to happen

Optimist: great! Let's do it.

An optimist.

One of the strengths and also a flaw of an optimist is that they always see the bright side, irrespective of the situation. An optimist who is losing his investment might tag it as a learning experience, whilst his major problem is his poor business management skills. Eventually, his views on things will eventually hurt him and his business.

A pessimist

Is a sharp contrast to an optimist. Where the optimist sees the opportunity the pessimist sees failure. They are the ones who point out all the loopholes the optimist failures to see. Usually, it is impossible to have these two categories of persons agree on anything because they're blinded to each other's reality.

A pragmatist

This is the middleman. The voice of reason. A pragmatist is not blinded by sentiments like the optimist and neither is afraid of challenges like the pessimist. He is solution orientated individual. They discover problems and highlight meaningful ways of solving them.

I won't call myself a pragmatist because most part of my crypto journey I have been highly sentimental and there have enough distractions to reinforce my faux believes. However, I have gotten my head out of the clouds and I'm seeing things for what they are. It is hard to criticise the thing you love or care about. Humans are said to be the only creatures that can make themselves believe a lie they tell. A typical example would be a relationship. How many times have we been in relationships that are not good for us but end up making excuses for our other half until the inevitable happens?

This doesn't mean I do not believe in cryptocurrency. I don't want to sound superstitious but bitcoin itself is fulfilling an ancient prophecy. That at least my Bible tells me that someday there will be a generally accepted currency globally and bitcoin is the closest thing to this said prophesy. Away from the metaphysical realm, I believe we are heading towards a future where cryptocurrencies will be valid means of exchange worldwide. The question on my mind most times is which coin will make it to that future. Sometimes I feel none of these coins that exist now will make it. Whatever conclusion I arrive, it is still an uninformed guess. The future isn't mine to predict and I don't dwell too much thinking about it. However, I feel our actions now will shape the future. It's not a thing of wishful thinking and probably one of the reasons I get upset when people talk about cryptocurrency. They are so sure of a future they don't know how to get to. That's basically selling themselves and people a dream. About two months ago someone on Twitter confronted me for being one of these said people I talk about and I got upset. But seeing things clearly now, I think I owe him an apology (although he was dickhead).

At this point, I'm neither optimistic or pessimistic. I will say I'm a bit indifferent. I'm not in the best position to effect the changes I want. So basically I am creating content (this bit I do well) and pursue profit. I see it as fair trade, I add value to the platform and earn whilst doing that. I have part of my coins stashed somewhere just in case I'm wrong.
