BUIDLING WITH YOUR COMMUNITY
I haven't read that many posts today. At some point I was questioning my involvement with the community I am affiliated with; my role as a leader and curator in two different projects. It feels like I am biting more than I can chew. I really do want to be involved in the growth of this blockchain, especially the Nigerian community. I feel this is the only way to keep this platform viable for a long period. I don't want to pander to whales and orcas or preexisting groups of established content creators. I want to try something new with a new group of people. The community is growing. I am seeing familiar faces and new faces join the community. It would be great to have more interaction on the community page but discord seems like a good place for many to interact and network.
As a community leader, I have had to adjust a bit. For those who know me, I like to go about my business and maintain little or no interaction. That is slowly changing as I am beginning to entertain new people and interactions. I hope the many people trying to reach out to me understand that i am an average user who is just putting in work. Contrary to what some might think, i have no connections or affiliation with any top user(whale). The fact that i manage to earn decent upvotes from time to tome amazes me as well. I can't get you huge upvotes, unfortunately, but I do believe in the power of number and having an active community. If we--I and every member of the community--can dedicate our time to this course i believe we will not just smile to the bank but also impact ourselves and improve the social experience here. Many people talk about how Twitter and Facebook being more engaging but i put it to you that if we are conscious about having meaningful discussions about the things that matter to us we can pull the right audience. Steem/Hive could be your twitter where you interact with family, friends and strangers. Yes, I understand the difficulty involved in explaining this place to people and to be honest, I care little about this category of persons. There are so many crypto enthusiasts who aren't using steem/hive, and i would fancy my chances with them. There was an active community of Nigeria here and I want them to reach out to them via various means.
To build means different things to different people. For me, i am more interested in building a strong network of people who share things in common. It is a dream of mine to have a proper social experience on steem/hive, where conversations are not just relegated to crypto issues. I want hive to be a fun place for different everyone. The monetary gains will always have an impact on people's activities on the chain but rather than working against the chain as it is now, i think it can work for the chain. This way people care less about what they earn and more about the people and the social experience.
I believe one can make money and have fun. They are not mutually exclusive. You can as well buidl while you pursue whatever financial goal you have on hive. So whatever community you belong to, it is important that you play an active role. Steem/Hive can actually be boring when you ignore the social aspect of the chain and place more emphasis on the financial aspect of the chain. The truth is whatever stack you amass can be worthless if people stop believing in this hive. And if I may ask: what makes you believe in steem/hive? Chances are that you will mention the community. The community brought us this far and it is my belief that anyone who thinks long run is actively thinking about growing the community because they know where the value truly is.
I am trying to buidl something with people I care about; people i share similar experiences with. It is not the easiest feat. There are so many reasons to quiet and be about my business but I can't. I want to be part of the people buidling the steem/hive we all dream of.
So these are my thoughts for today. Hopefully, they get you thinking about steem/hive And its growth. Cheers.
