This Post Only Took Two And A Half Hours To Complete! And Inside I've Included Some Wonderful Information!

But if I told you what that information was within this opening line,
you wouldn't need to click!

Two And A Half Hours

So

I'll make this fast.

For those who enjoy the art, that image above is new, never before seen, until now. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. Doesn't matter to me!

This post has already taken two and a half hours to produce, and I'm not even finished yet. That image took a lot less time than some of my other work, but that doesn't matter to you!

What I want to say though,

is this:

I've been here for nearly three years. This platform has handed out a lot of money. A lot of that money went to bloggers, vloggers, whatevers; content producers.

You will often come across people who will say something similar to, "Blog posts do not have much value."

Do not listen to them!

One big unwritten rule in the entertainment industry: Never sell yourself short.

Picture yourself strumming a guitar in the park. It's Saturday, busy day, people everywhere. They're dropping change, a few bills, enjoying your performance. Are you counting the money as it rolls in? Are you going to stop mid-song because you've earned your quota?

Then you go again the next Saturday. You earn more. Then you go again the next weekend, and earn less. Did you earn too much on the best day? No. You did your thing; whatever happened, happened.

Would someone who released their first album expect to go platinum? If they did, would they say they earned too much?

I realize many of you out there think you're just throwing random words up onto a screen and have nothing to do with the arts and entertainment industry, but you really should pay attention to the first three letters in the word 'article' and think about what they spell.

It starts with you.

If you do not see value in your work, others will notice and follow your lead. Get rid of that old steem mindset. You and your work is worth every penny, and more!

Is the hotdog vendor on the corner telling everyone his hotdogs are trash and made out of scraps?

No.

So let's eat some gourmet hotdogs with all the fixings and start taking pride in our work along with the true value and nutrients contained within.

Have a nice day!

I'm a firm believer in the value of art and writing---even so called "bad" art. I'm untrained in art, but I love to draw and paint. If I make something that amuses me, I share it, knowing that most folks won't "get it" or value the amateur quality---and that's fine. SOME people will be amused and throw some coins my way. Cool.

I AM trained in writing (and editing), and I'm good at it, BUT I'm also a fan of experimental, absurdist, "post-post modern" techniques, and I often write stuff with these concepts as a base---and if the work amuses me, I share it. Most folks won't get it and....blah blah blah... Little to no payout...

HOWEVER...

It all has value. As practice (you grow and develop by DOING), as experiments in style and form, as personal expression, and as amusement---for some folks, including me. If any one particular WORK flops, makes no shekels, it STILL has value, as a learning experience---and there is a chance that a FLOP on one platform may even go over big on a different platform, or if shared in a different media (performed at a reading or printed in a book or magazine.)

Steemit is a great place to share, but it's not the ONLY place, and I share all over---even in my front lawn at impromptu, bar-b-cue, yard-art sales. Some of those "flops" from the digital world sell well as PRINTS in nice, little frames!

More importantly, EACH individual piece (drawing, poem, song, story, performance...) contributes to your BODY OF WORK, the spread out, nebulous web of influence and "product" (for lack of a better term) created by any creative type over their lifetime AND which might have more of a lasting impact as a WHOLE than any individual piece might suggest (however much the payout ended up being...)

Content is cool. It's what keeps me coming back for more!

Some of the best art started out as what some considered to be "bad art". These things, the more people think about them, have a tendency of growing on people. Mixing comedy into art is often misinterpreted. Some folks just don't get why something is intentionally made poorly, for a laugh. I've done that a lot in my life and I've watched the joke go over many heads. I'm cool with it though.

Two hours or so is pretty good for a post like this. I just spent 4 hours on mine and I'm pretty sure it's hot mess of rambling, poorly constructed sentences lol.

Haha In the picture I see an older slightly overweight duck who has tried to doll herself up with a lot of lipstick and a new haircut (feather cut?) in an attempt to appear youthful and attractive for her increasingly uninterested duck "partner" but that might be my "medicine" talking.

"I realize many of you out there think you're just throwing random words up onto a screen and have nothing to do with the arts and entertainment industry, but you really should pay attention to the first three letters in the word 'article' and think about what they spell."

I couldn't agree more. Art is infinitely broader than people give it credit for and it can be extremely available even if it isn't produced in a recognized "artsy" medium.

I haven't seen your post yet today but that was a fancy way of dropping a hint. I think every time I read your stuff I feel like yelling, "Paragraphs!" But at the same time, that's your artform, not mine, and I really don't like telling people what to do when it comes to that stuff.

For some reason, I can't see the duck. I did hide a face though. Top center, top half is gray, bottom half is red. He's hard to see, but he's looking at us.

haha I hope it jokey enough to not be too foreword but don't expect too much I would say that it's better than my last one but that's only because my last one may be my worst post to date.

lol Really? I totally see a Howard the Duck sort of creature with its "lips" formed by that dark line interacting with the red "swoosh" (you can totally tell that I know my art terms) near the upper center of the picture. The top of its head is cut off but some of the black at the top looks like a dye job and styled hair. It is also wearing a pink scarf and a red blouse. I could be just tripping though this is nearing the end of my day and I am pretty tired.

I finally found the duck!

I'm going to be looking for this damn duck, all night. Your map sucks! LOL! I'm just messing around.

'pay attention to the first three letters in the word 'article' and think about what they spell.

It starts with you'.

Mind you: even the word 'starts' has those same three letters in it.

That's genius. Why didn't I think of it!

Is STEEM doomed? we seem to be a retread that is slowly fading

I don't think so. I've been writing a lot lately about how to bring in the entertainment industry money, and what that money is important. The way this token is invested in now only makes it like all the other tokens. Here, we have something the actual common human can buy into, just like they would when they buy music and magazines. Once the idea catches on, we'll see an improvement. I'm only one guy though.

You are actually showcasing what I have said before: Marketing! First, you believe in yourself, then you show yourself to the world. The world will buy you. Believing in yourself is contagious.

It's no accident! And yes, yes it is contagious. You won't see me covering my mouth either.

I love a good pep talk and i love Sahlen's hot dogs.....

I don't think I've ever had Sahlen's hot dogs.

i started to use #belowaveragecreator tag because that talk, but new steem so i dropped that.
this one, for me, is for the future, but i think it is not made to be seen on a phone screen, so maybe i will change my mind when i see it on a monitor.

This one has fewer pixels and lower resolution. I also used different tools that don't make things look shiny. It's more cloudy. It's actually part of a set I've been working on for well over two years. A puzzle. It'll all come together, eventually. Might take me ten years though because I bounce around so much. There's a better quality version behind that image in the blog post.

hope you are doing backups on at least 3 different places :D

while i was reading it i thought "he uses this colors a lot" :D so puzzle has a lot of sense

I agree. It takes time and planning to be successfil. Most pf the people doing well here either worked really hard for their Steem, or invested their hard earned money for Steem amd choose to develop further here.

Your art is quite nice. I'm fairly useless at digital art, but I've never rally takem any time to study or develop my skills.

More people need to focus on the good of Steem already existing instead of what's wrong, what needs to change, or mostly how can I plunder dis booty?

After curation boost of steem amd with curation of secondary tokens of Steem like Leo and Pal at 50% I think good and consistent authors will be rewarded mpre and there will be less corcle jerkers circle jerking...well I hope so.

Quality works.

With digital art, I'm constantly learning new things. Often I'll use tools and settings in ways the tools weren't intended to be used, just so I can have my own flavor. Everything is done by hand though. Blank canvas, built up from scratch, just like painting, without all the mess. My favorite tool is a basic spray paint tool and I can set it to spray lots, or less. Reminds me of painting railcars when I was a kid. Feels almost the same.

I'm hoping things improve and the organic experience becomes the easiest way to earn. But of course one must work harder to look good and go places if organic is the way to be.

That is a great pep talk. Quick with an effective analogy. More folks need to listen. So how do you take your hot dog? PS will resteem

I like them campfire cooked, on a bun, with a bit of mustard; that's about it.
