🐨The Australian Bear: Koala 🐨
(version 🇫🇷 en bas ⬇️)
❓Have you ever seen a Koala?
✔️Despite their cuteness Koalas are asocial animals and only mums bond with their offsprings until they are independent. They stay about 7 months in their mothers' pouch.
✔️We all wish we were Koalas sometimes as they sleep on average 20h a day...Ok that's probably not us!
✔️While they are so cute and you want to pat them...They have quite a strong smell and they are not as soft as Kangaroos :-)
✔️Koalas' habitat are threatened by bushfires, drought, agriculture and urbanisation. Koalas are also largely threathened by the Chlamydia bacteria and Retro virus similar to AIDS.
✔️Our first encounter with Koala was at Steve Irwin (The crocodile hunter)'s Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast. However we've since seen them in Noosa National Park area and more prominently in a close up encounter at Cape Otway in Victoria, cuteness overload! We were also lucky to observe some on Kangaroo Island.
✔️They can be hard to spot in the wild as they often sit high up in eucalyptus, so look for a ball tucked between branches!

I love Koalas! I got to hold one twice! Both times near Brisbane/The Gold Coast. One peed on me! 😑 At least it smelled like eucalyptus.....
We did the Koala holding as well at Lone Pine Koala sanctuary. Not sure how I feel about the experience anymore as they are wild animal and not sure if that is a great thing. They are really cute though but probably best to just observe them.
