Life with Louie: A cartoon which we wished to watch with our fathers.

I used to say that Life with Louie is my favorite childhood cartoon. Today, I see that i was mistaken. Because today I am about to turn 29, but i still enjoy watching it, perhaps even more than before.

I`ve always wondered if i am the only one who finds a lot from his own family when watching the funny life of Anderson family. Especially Louie's relationship with his father Andy (Andrew) Anderson. Although Andy is very difficult World War 2 veteran, he is a loving father and hard working family man. He is a gifted chess player which he hides from everyone. He has a very old car which he is very proud of, and he never talks much about feelings -particularly his own- to Louie.

I don´t think my father was that difficult. He wasn´t a veteran of World War 2. Neither he was a gifted chess player nor a proud owner of an old car. But, he had a short military experience which he always told me stories about. He always worked very hard to take care of his family. He was very on some stuff just like Louie´s dad was with the chess. And he owned some private things which he was very proud of like Andy´s old Rambler sedan. I think Louie showed us how a father looks like from his little son`s perspective. Same thing probably apply to his mother Ora and his siblings. I never had a small brother, but way he tries to scare him, fool him and take care of him when needed seems to be very commen behaviours for big brothers.

Today, I seem to pay more attention to Andy character than I did in the past. I think I just understand him more, and something tells me that I am going to feel like Andy rather than Louie 10 years later. And yes, I still will be watching it after 10 years.

Louie´nin hayati: Babalarimizla izlemek istedigimiz bir cizgi film.

Eskiden Louie´nin cocukken en sevdigim cizgi film oldugunu soylerdim. Bugun yanildigimi dusunuyorum. Cunku 29 yasina basmak uzere oldugum bu gunlerde hala acip zevkle izlemeye devam ediyorum, ustelik eskiden daha buyuk bir zevk alarak.

Hep merak etmisimdir acaba bu cizgi filmi izlerken kendi ailesinden birseyler bulan sadece ben miyim diye. Ozellikle Louie´nin babasi Andy (Andrew) Anderson ile olan iliskisinden bahsediyorum. Andy bir ikinci dunya savasi gazisi. Ailesini seven ve cok calisan bir baba. Dogustan yetenekli bir satranc oyuncu ama bunu herkesten saklamayi tercih etmis. Herseyden cok sevdigi eski bir arabasi var ve ona sahip olmaktan buyuk gurur duyuyor. Ayrica duygular hakkinda konusmaktan hep cekinen biri, ozellikte kendi duygulari hakkinda.

Benim babam cok zor bir insan degildi. Ikinci dunya savasina da hic katilmadi. Ne dogustan yetenekli bir satranc oyuncusuydu ne de cok sevip ovundugu eski bir arabasi vardi.Bunun yaninda yinede bana hep heyecanli hikayelerini anlattigi yedek subay anilari vardi. Ailesini gecindirebilmek cok calisir cok fedakarlik yapardi. Sahip olmakla cok ovundugu kendine gore esyalari vardi tipki Louie´nin babasinin eski, Rambler marka arabasi gibi. Ayrica hayatta cok yetenekli oldugu bir iki seyde vardi yine Andy´nin dogustan gelen satranc kabiliyeti gibi. Sanirim Louie bizlere kucuk bir erkek cocugunun bakis acisiyla bir baba neye benziyor onu gosterdi. Ayni seyi annesi Ora ve kardesleri icin soylemek de mumkun. Benim hic kucuk bir erkek kardesim olmadi, ama onun kardesi Tommy´i korkutmasi, kandirmasi ve gerektiginde de ona agabeylik yapmasi buyuk kardeslerde cok sik gorulen davranislar.

Bugun izledigimde, Andy karakterine gecmistekinden daha fazla ilgi gosterdigimi farkediyorum. Sanirim artik onu daha fazla anlayabiliyorum, ve icimden bir ses 10 yil sonra kendimi Louie yerine Andy´e benzetmeye baslayacagimi soyluyor. Ve evet, 10 yil sonra onu hala izliyor olacagim.
