PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA #2

This is the second series of Places to visit in Nigeria. This post was inspired by @surfyogi.. He wanted to know the beautiful places to visit when he comes to Nigeria, so i decided to write about it here. I see a lot of Travel bloggers and Tourists on Steemit sharing beautiful pictures of places they have visited and i couldn't help but to appreciate the beauty in my own country to. So just in case you are a tourist, here are few of the many beautiful places you can visit in Nigeria. There are hundreds of Tourist places in Nigeria so i'm going to divide this post into series. And if you missed the previous series, click here

By now you should have an idea of the beauty of Nigeria. Firstly nigeria is the most populated country in Africa, she is known as the giant of Africa. Thus it is an avenue for Tourism, ranging from Ancient shrines to beaches to beautiful rocks and a beautiful Tradition and culture. Without further ado, let me take you round my country through this 6 tourist places briefly.

IBENO BEACH

This beach is the longest beach in Africa, it is said to be one of the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Ibeno Beach is located in Akwa Ibom State, the Southern Nigeria. The beach was a landing site for one of the most successful christian mission in Nigeria. It is a popular Tourist site and completely safe for visitors. So if you love adventures on beaches like i do, Ibeno beach is for you.

NGWO PINE FOREST

If you love camping in the woods with friends and family, Nigeria got you covered. Our very own Ngwo Pine Forest is located in Enugu State, the southeastern part of Nigeria. It has beautiful pine trees which forms canopies. You can camp and party with friends, it is filled with adventures. It even has a flowing stream inside a cave for lovers, hmmmm. Camping made easier.

AWHUM WATERFALL

This waterfall is located in Enugu State, Southeastern Nigeria. It is formed out of a massive outcrop of granite rock with water flowing at the top forming a stream. It is located beside Awhum Monastery, it is a popular pilgrim site as it is believed to dispel satanic forces. Despite that, it is beautiful and a great for Tourism.

AROCHUKWU LONG JUJU SLAVE ROUTE

The Long Juju Slave Route of Arochukwu is a sacred altar, a six foot gully that takes people to the temple and the waterfall in Arochukwu Long Juju Slave route, beg tourists to explore the shrine of Ibini Ukpabi and the cult monument of Kamula.

The shrine brought communities together during the colonial Britain assaults on kingdoms around the river Niger. It is said to have throne of judgement, the dark presence and hill of rags. People found guilty after judgement disappeared into the caves. Though the Long juju stronghold was destroyed by British during their quest for colonial power, The shrine and the slave route is a tourist attraction.

THE GIANT FOOTPRINT OF UKHUSE OKE

This is located on a mountain in Edo State, the southern part of Nigeria. It is believed that the footprint was made when the world was still in its molten state. Visitors come from different parts of the world to see this relic.

OSUN-OSOGBO GROVE

This grove is located along the oshun river in Osun State, the Southwestern part of Nigeria. It is said to be the only tourist destination that has sacred shrines, sanctuaries, sculptures and art works that are created in the honour of the goddess of fertility.

Thank you for sharing all these beautiful places. I've been only to Lagos so far because my company would send me there from time to time. The city is a bit chaotic but I like the markets and I like talking to the local people. I also love Gulder Lager :)

Oh great! Next time you are in lagos, you can visit Lekki conservation centre.. For a night life, visit New Afrika Shrine.. Don't forget to call me too, let's explore together..

One thing I like you pointed out is that you stated that it is safe for visitors, it really important for people, foreigners to know that Nigeria is a peacfull place for torisim.
