HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME (COUNTING MY BLESSINGS)

I remember what being an infant was like, the chocolates and the China dolls stocked up just for me in my dad's room. I was my daddy's little girl. I remember what his hair was like, the afro, I took pride in playing with it whenever he gets back from work. I remember the tear I shed whenever he dropped me off to school and every joy I felt whenever he honks his car horn. I remember the sharp pain in my heart when I heard that he won't live with me anymore, when they said he had gone to be with his Maker. That was my first heartbreak.. I was 6 you are old and I had my first heartbreak at 6.

My name is Chidinma, it means God is good. My God is good. God have proved to be good by mending my broken heart and blessing me with a wonderful family. I've got the best mum in the world. He made sure the love I had as an infant didn't go with my dad. I have a family that will do anything, absolutely anything for me. He gave me wonferful brothers to, (though they bullied me for my chocolates😕) they have been there for me, in every stage of my life. That's a gift. My God is good.

I remember what growing up what was like. I remember going to one of the best schools in my state. And ofcourse, being one of the best schools means being expensive. And my mum being a pension earner couldn't afford it, but somehow by God' special grace, I was never indebt, in fact my fees was cleared even before the wealthy kids. I remember gaining admission in to the higher institution, I remember the ups and downs, the kind and wicked lecturers, the success and failures that threatened my academics but God still made every crooked way straight, and I graduated in peace. My God is good.

I remember the deaths in school from the death of my bestfriend to the death of my next door neighbour, they all died in our final year, just before our final exams. I'm not better of than them, neither am I righteous, but I graduated alive. I remember all my travels without experiencing any form of accident on the way. I remember the story of corp members dying on the way, in their service states and so on, I am still alive. God gave me life not just life, he gave me protection. My God is Good.

I see the news and see people diagonised with one illness or another seeking for financial help. I go to the hospital, I see people sick for years. And then I remember, the last time I had a serious illness was when I was 12. Since then I have enjoyed good health. They say health is wealth. Then it means I'm wealthy. My God blessed me good health. My God is good.

No man is an island they say. I hear stories of what friends do to friends, either they kill, pour acid or lead themselves astray. I have never had such friends. God gave me a gift in every single friend I have. They contributed so much positive energy in my life. They have been there through thick and thin, through love and heartbreaks. I am grateful for them. My God is good.

I remember moving to Kaduna State without knowing anybody, but God had already prepared a bed of roses before my arrival. My work place, so much love, they have shown me so much love, that I hardly miss home (I miss my mum though, she can't be replaced). I have been safe, no violence whatsoever. My God is good.

Finally, when I say finally, I don't mean that this is all. I just mean that I will drop my pen here. I met steemit, a place i can blog abd earn that's great. What's even greater is meeting the steemnaira community. I have met wonderful people that have supported my growth here, and I have no doubt that that's a blessing. They say the name you give a child will contribute a negative or positive energy to him/her. I thank God my name is Chidinma because I can see that God has been good from the day I was born till now. I am a year older today, I am alive to see another year of my life in good health, in a sound mind, surrounded by friends and family both online and offline. The gifts are coming in already (drop yours if you have not sent). The love is overwhelming. I am super grateful. My God is indeed Good.
