CALL ME BY YOUR NAME
I have never seen a gay movie this successful. It is not the story itself that sold out, but the manner it was told and directed made it beautiful.

It's 1983 in North Italy and everyone wears a shirt and a short. Elio is a 17 year old boy who lives in a villa with his archeology professor father and translator mother. He is smart but naive in matters of the heart. He reads a lot, plays piano and flirts with girls. Going through the normal stages of coming of age, even his parents watch him closely with love as they see what their son is growing into.

Summer is here! And so is Oliver, an american graduate student who came to assist Elio's father in his research. He takes over Elio's room, causing him to move to the next room, but then they share the same bathroom. The local girls are smitten by his charm and good looks and Elio is vexed by his aloofness. Bike rides, long chats and swims in the river soon erupted into sexual attractions. Oliver seem not interested, probably for the fact that he is guest, 7 years older or he doesn't want to screw his professor's son. Oliver begins a romance with a girl while Elio becomes entangled with a girl his age, Marzia. It's long summer and who knows what it has in store for them, but one thing is for sure, their lives won't remain the same.

Call me by your name is a slow paced melodic drama. Each scene just flows like a river on to the next, though it was a little bit slow at first. Director Luca took his time to portray the intricacies of first love. It's a movie of youthful love, lust, confusion, heartbreak and exuberance told in a detailed and dynamic way. The performances are outstanding, Chalamet embraced his Elio and performed naturally as a volatile teen facing changes into adulthood. The tone setting, cinematography and direction is beautiful. What even makes it more epic is the monologue by Stulhbarg at the the end, it leaves an impression that will stick in your brain long after watching the movie.
