THE DIARY GAME : 16TH MARCH, 2022 : IT WAS OUR INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT PRESENTATION DAY AS PART OF OUR FINAL YEAR CURRICULUM ON CAMPUS
Greetings everyone,
As part of the university curriculum here, it is important for us to undertake an internship course also known as the industrial attachment program. This gives students the opportunity to learn more about what goes on in the various companies for a fixed period of time, (usually one month), so that they may gain practical knowledge to what they were taught in school.
I can indeed testify to the fact that this has proved to be quite helpful as I learnt more things than I could possibly imagine. Today was therefore the day for us to make our final presentation on the things we learnt during our period of stay at our various companies so that our lecturers could assess us and we can also learn from each other.
We all had the opportunity to learn from different fields altogether. Some went to the fields of hydrogeology, others went to engineering consultancies, construction sites and so on. I also had the opportunity to go to the mining industry, Asanko Gold Mine to be precise.
As such, our presentations were based on where we went.
The marks were being scored one by one as we came and made our presentations. They gave valuable feedbacks concerning each presenter so the smart ones took notes from the early presenters and used it to polish up theirs.
For instance, during Benjamin's turn, he struggle with the use of the powerpoint and had some issues with his fonts that weren't legible enough for the audience to view and follow.

This error was pointed out and those that presented afterwards made sure not to repeat the same thing once again.
I learnt quite a lot as they all came to present especially from the guys who went to the Community Water and Sanitation Agency. I didn't know some of the newly distributed pipes in rural areas have regulators on them that sent data directly to the company without visiting the sites.
It seems some agencies really have advanced technologies they are now working with.

After the class, we gathered around and took a couple of pictures for occasion. This is something that we had been working on for a few weeks now just to be done in a couple of hours. We have done justice to what we learnt as we left it all on the floor today.
We had a couple of general feedback that was given to us after our presentations. I think it will make us stronger and help us to polish ourselves in the long run.
The next thing to worry about is that of our projects. This is the highlight of our final year of stay over here in the University. Unfortunately, sometimes the more experienced lectures don't want to handle project students due to their busy schedules or fear of disappointments from past experiences.
I am still in search of a supervisor for the topic I have chosen which pertains to Geographic Information Systems. That aspect of this course fascinates me so I want to tackle it and see how I can master it.
I will be sure to keep you in the loop as I make progress in my project.
Thank you for your attention.
GIS is a very powerful tool. During my final year project ,I used it to draw a contour map to estimate the "head" of a river for hydropower generation. I hope you find a supervisor.
It is certainly something I admire a lot. It has tons of applications. I hope to work on something quite unique and exciting. Thank you.
Geographic information system(Gis) !! I remember i did that as a course back in the university.. But if you ask me now i cant remember jack! Hahah...more grace @njaywan
It is quite an interesting course dear. I am very intrigued 🤗
Thats right!
Nice diary. I admire your hardwork. I can see a lot of seriousness in your presentation. You again made as know when your other friends were presenting. That is thoughtful of you. Keep sharing. I wish you the very best of success. Learn hard
