[EP229] - Initial steps in budgeting

Welcome to my video made exclusively for D.Tube.
We're really trying to watch our finances at the moment, and funnily enough, my No Junkfood Challenge that I'm doing with my friend, is really helping. Since I'm trying to eat healthily, it's means we're barely eating out, which is saving us a ton of money.
It's really opened my eyes to how much we spend on going out and things we don't need and won't remember. It's huge. We're being a lot smarter about entertainment and food, and it helps that we have things we want to pay off quickly, so bad choices have a lot more weight.
It's interesting... especially since it feels like everything is trying to seperate you from your money all the time.

I don't budget, but I track every penny I spend to makes sure I'm aware of it, can see it, and can feel either acceptance or remorse every time I manually enter it into my Excel sheet. I've been doing this for years and it sort of keeps me conscious, without being strict.
Idea: learn woodworking, buy some tools on Craigslist, chop down some trees, and make custom wooden ninja training accessories.
Dude! I've been doing the exact same thing... since August 2003. I track every transaction that I make, and divide them into Bills, Food and Fun... but lately I was finding that it wasn't changing my habits at all... and so budgeting is honestly helping me make decisions like 'Oh, I'll save up and buy that thing next month because I've nearly hit the budget target for this month.' Although, if I'm tired or hungry, all of that goes out the window.... so I know I can't let myself get too tired or hungry.
Haha, love that idea! I've actually being thinking about something along similar lines, and I do definitely have the space here... it just becomes a matter of do I want to spend the time on yet another project.
Please just tell me you don't budget for electricity and laptop depreciation to actually use your Excel sheet!
