It is no longer news that online businesses trend more than offline businesses. It seems like if you are not doing business online, you are not into the game. Everyone today wants to do one business or the other online.

Personally, I have done various online business and filed in them, maybe because I didn't connect properly or because I wasn't grounded well, or probably because I didn't have the right business for the right customers, or it could be that I was on the wrong platform.

For entrepreneurs, it is good to get things right. Get the right platform, the right business, the right customers, and the right information. It's not all about doing business; it's about doing it right for profitable results.

Currently, LinkedIn is the best platform so far that I would suggest for entrepreneurs. I am not running an advertisement, but I am stating the facts because LinkedIn is a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals to connect and build strong networks. It has already built over 700 million users, and trust me, no entrepreneur would want less.

Every entrepreneur aspires for the best, and this is where you connect and build stronger relationships with customers. You have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, industries, potential clients, and even some people who could mentor you effectively. Entrepreneurs need to be grounded before they commence.

My mom would always say that she prefers businesses where she sees her customers face-to-face and is sure they are human. It's funny, right, but online business isn't bad after all, although whatever has an advantage has a disadvantage. I wouldn't say that the online business is the best for entrepreneurs or that the offline business is the best. I can only say that whoever a person finds convenient to go with is the best.

All the same, permit me to share with us some of the advantages and disadvantages of doing business online. If we have over user on social media platforms, then I think it's a good start but do you think you can handle the risk? That is the question...

Advantages

• Saves unnecessary costs: Building a social media business cost nothing other than having a browsing phone and a running data handy, getting your products ready for the customers. You don't have to pay for a shop/space rent, you don't have to paint or beautify the space. Seriously, it cost nothing to start it up.

• Larger audience: Every social media user wants to build a large audience and why not, if running a business could fetch you that. Building your social media platforms gives more leverage as an entrepreneur.

• Increased brand awareness : This simply means if you have a personal brand, it can be easily advertise to many people and places without your notice. Once it's a good product coming from a brand, customers run an ad without their notice.

Disadvantages

• The public negative feedback: It's one thing to build traffic on social media, it's another to control it. This where you get some negative feedback that could ruine your business for life, tarnish your image and set you running back to square one.

• Misinformation: Some people are not such a great reader. They could be misinformed by others feedback or poor reading and this can be very dangerous to any business at all.

Doing business as an entrepreneur online isn't so difficult but like I said earlier, it should be done correctly because when you don't get it correct, you stay there for 20 year with nothing to show for it, meanwhile people with the right information gets it right in 1 month.

It will be best to note these;

• Get the right information on which social media platform is good for your kind of business. Every business has where it sells and if you are wrongly informed, then the business will never grow.

• Recognize when it's time to start something new, don't stay with the old because everyone loves the trending. Try new approaches to get better results.

• Never be caught without live videos it is very important. Your customers wants to be sure they are dealing with a human and not a robot. Live videos with your product makes it more real.

• Promote your page by running ad. There is no way to grow than advertising.

• Host a giveaway for your audience once a while. Don't always collect from them, try to give them because people relax more where they feel they benefit more.

Social media is a good place for business only if you get it right. You cannot advertise vegetables in a platform for fashion, no it won't work. You have to find out the right information before you start. After all before one starts an offline business, you move around to survey the environment to be sure it suits your kind of business.

I know a few business that are profitable through social media platforms;

• Fashion
• Real Estate
• Beauty/ Cosmetics
• Entertainment
• Affiliate Marketing
• Health/ Wellness etc...

It doesn't mean it has to be just these, no matter your product, try getting the right platform for it. You can't grow advertising fashion in a platform for entertainment. We just need the right information.

As you said it all depends on the business you're in. If you are dealing with retail then there is nothing better than Amazon or eBay. But if you are in a corporate sector then of course LinkedIn could be a better choice. I have been on LinkedIn right from the beginning and use it for various purposes.
