Food Thought #30| The Growth Mindset!
Hello friends!
Welcome to another episode of Food Thought. Food Thought has been expanding with amazing topics to inspire everyone. Today, I’m excited to share Food Thought #30, which is about "The Growth Mindset."
Growth is a continuous process in life. From the moment we are born, we begin to grow—first crawling as babies, then walking, going to school, and eventually becoming independent, yet we continue to grow.
You might notice that last week's topic connects closely with this one because growth begins in the mind, and to nurture the mind, wisdom is essential. Isn’t that great?
Knowledge and understanding come from social interactions. This means you are not a genius on your own. Your thoughts are influenced by the people you meet, the ideas you encounter, and the clash of different viewpoints. The strongest ideas are those that have been shaped by many people.
What you know now isn't sufficient. Information evolves, new issues come up, so you can't just say, "I know this" and stop there. This would mean believing that the questions remain the same or that the knowledge needed to solve problems doesn't change. Saying "I know" suggests that your thoughts can't be updated and that the questions or problems haven't changed.
Unlearning can be difficult if you have a fixed mindset because it means you have to accept that you don’t know everything, which can feel like a threat to your identity. If you’ve always seen yourself as the “best” at something, realizing you don’t know can be very unsettling. It challenges your belief that you are smart and talented.
Not knowing can feel like failure. In contrast, a growth mindset allows you to embrace change and welcome new experiences and ideas. While this may feel uncomfortable for some, this curiosity and openness are essential for creativity. You can’t discover new things if you think you already know it all. Being curious and willing to learn unexpected things is key.
When you encounter a new situation, like learning a new skill or starting a business, you will face many challenges. Some things will be difficult, and many will be new to you. You won't know your chances of success. However, by moving forward, you are believing in your ability to find new solutions.
This kind of learning is both a privilege and a risk. Once you focus on growing rather than just knowing everything, you start to trust in your capacity to improve. With this growth mindset, success means being able to evolve and adjust.
Leaders frequently believe they must handle everything on their own. This mindset has contributed to their success; they are intelligent and skilled, leading them to think they must be even more capable as leaders. I want to pose a question: “What if you don’t?”
How would things change? What if you set up an environment and ask questions that invite others to participate? This way, you can concentrate on your own growth while allowing everyone else to develop alongside you.
Wisdom is profitable to direct. The growth mindset is important and that is why as we grow, we grow wisely. It is time to grow!
See you in the next episode!
