Welcome to Nina's kitchen where I bring you a weekly African dishes.

It's weekend! and you know weekends comes with lots of cooking Ideas and today, I made something intriguing, something you would love, something that would arouse your hunger.

It's Plantain porridge. I guess we all know what a plantain is, or you don't? Well, I will highlight a little about it for those who don't know what is plantain and it's health benefits.

Plantains are tropical fruits that looks like a banana, but are bigger and they come with a green cover when unripe and yellow cover when ripe. They can be consumed when fried or cooked.

In case you are thinking of adding it to your diet, and you are wondering, are plantain good? Are they healthy? Yes they are very good for you. Let me tell you why?

•Plantain helps with weight management.
•Plantain promotes digestive health.
•Plantain helps boost the immune system to fight against sickness.
•Plantain helps manage diabetes. This is very good, I use it for my mom.

Well, there are other benefits, but I will like to go in straight to the cooking, that's what we are here for right? This method is not the only method of cooking plantain, there are other methods you can choose.


Cooking Ingredients

🔹Plantain
🔹crayfish
🔹Spices
🔹Fish
🔹Palm oil
🔹Pepper
🔹Onions
🔹Scent leaf
🔹Water
🔹Salt

Cooking method

Wash the plantain seed with a clean water. Slice it to your desired shape and keep aside.

Add water in a pot and set on fire. Allow it to boil, then add the sliced plantain to the boiled water and cover.

Slice your onion ball, blend your crayfish and pepper.

Add them to the pot of plantain on fire. Don't stir, just cover and allow to boil.

Wash your fish with luke warm water, add it to the plantain on the fire, and cover.

Add other ingredients and add oil, cover the pot for about 10 mins. Slice your veggies (scent leaf) and add, cover for some time and adjust for taste. Check for salt.

Serve hot or cold depending on what you prefer. I prefer warm. Our food is ready!
