Afternoon beauties

No, this isn't me doing clever photography with a spray bottle, I just can't seem to get rid of the red spider mites on this Faucaria so I have taken to spraying it daily, because that does help. You can see the whiter leaf tips with the dots, those are tell-tale signs of red spider on mesembs. This species is adapted to collect water from dew and sea fogs so they really miss it if they don't get enough and this makes them susceptible to red spider.

The flowers open in the late afternoon, so they are probably not pollinated by bees, which are most active in the morning. If you look closely, you'll see a little gnat-like creature which seem to like hanging out in these flowers. They are making seed pods, so something out there is doing it's job

Very striking yellow flowers! She stands out!

Yes, they grow in semi-desert conditions and are really beautiful in the dry landscape

It will be a pity that these flowers that you have grown will be eaten by ticks. You spend a lot of energy on the daily processing of flowers from these insects. It is commendable.

Si son terribles esos parásitos rojos. A mis plantas también las persiguen. Pero en las hojas. Bellas sus flores como siempre.

Thank you :)
