On this day in 1971, the album with the recording of rock Opera Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim rice 'Jesus Christ Superstar' reached the first place in the U.S. album charts.

In England at the same time he was on the 6th place. In this work for the first time was achieved parity between the nobility of academic techniques and ecstatic rock music and all this against the background of deep thoughts on the meaning of human life.

No matter how many rock operas before and after-but it did not work better for anyone, including the creators of this masterpiece. And so our rock Opera "Orpheus and Eurydice" performed by "Singing guitars" - full of shit, which crippled this famous team. A lot of people plus a large orchestra – and as a result, more and more material had to carry with them in the form of a phonogram, and the result was a profanation under the phonogram, after which the artists fled-they had nothing to do.

And "Jesus Christ superstar" is a masterpiece in every Aria, every orchestral loss. Even now I can easily sing any Aria from this Opera, despite almost 50 years since its release…
