The @steemfunder account was created because I believe that STEEM can provide basic income for all of us who are willing to participate.

Before using STEEM, I had a Patreon account. I still have it. I have patrons who support me every month even though I barely update my status there. They support me because they are my friends. I don't have a large audience on any platform. I don't have raving fans. I have friends who have seen me struggle financially and emotionally.

One of the first ideas I had for using the STEEM blockchain was for a funding platform that would replace Patreon for me. I planned to build my own based on the work of upfundme and steembasicincome. I soon realized that I don't need to build a whole new platform and fundition was a big part of that realization. The fundition crowdfunding platform is very well done and user-friendly. It's pretty much everything I wanted to build for myself.

The idea of basic income excites me. I am a person who has done more unpaid labor than paid. I am a single mom who has never had a full-time job since having kids. My kids are educated outside of school which means we don't take advantage of the daycare that school provides. It's just me and the kids pretty much all the time.

My lifestyle is unsustainable. I am in a financial hole. My bank account stays in the red (thank goodness for overdraft line-of-credit). It turns out being broke and getting collection calls aggravate my depression and anxiety. I noticed my mental health is much better when there's enough money in the bank to cover expenses.

It's not that I don't want to work either. I totally do. I'm talented too. I'm an artist and developer. I'd love to support myself by doing the work that I'm skilled in. I just need a boost to be able to able to live sustainably. This is another reason why STEEM is exciting. I've seen my friends prosper just by doing their thing. That's the dream, man.

So that's me, but besides the homeschooling part, there's nothing special about my story. A lot of people are in the same position. My vision was to create a Patreon that's available for anyone -- for basic income.

It's all an experiment at this point. I'm going to use Fundition, upfundme, and steembasicincome to support myself and others. This will not be basic income 100% because I will be offering my services as rewards on this campaign. From now on, I'll be tagging my posts with my fundition tag so that I can easily track how much I earn.
