Axiology:

Powell was the first to use the term derived from the Greek word 1 axios and look at the philosophy of values in the ideals, or absolute values: truth, goodness, and beauty.

In terms of themselves not as means to achieve ends. Are these values just meanings in the mind used to evaluate things? Or does it have a separate existence from the mind it perceives? The values of logic, ethics, and beauty are examined in their traditional sense: in terms of normative science, they are looking at what should be, not a status science that limits their study to what is being.

Logic deals with the rules that keep the mind from slipping: it searches what should be proper thinking. Ethics sets the highest ideals that human beings must observe: that is, what human actions should be. Aesthetics puts the levels at which the beautiful thing is measured: looking at what should be the beautiful thing. These three normative sciences comprise the so-called ecology or philosophy of values.
