Transactions costs are crazy lately

So i sent some ethereum between wallets and noticed how the fees are still out of the roof. Everytime crypto price goes up the interest rises and the network can't handle it. What's the point of blockchains when it's actually slow and very expensive to use. Steem doesn't have that problem but there are other problems with this blockchain. The economics for instance don't make sense.
