Do old posts still get read?
I see that mosts posts get comments within the first week and then almost none anymore. Do people still read old posts? How long does content stay relevant?
I think because of the way that content is structured on steemit all old posts get buried easily under new posts.
- Yes
- No
- Only with the search function

Hard to say without seeing the tracking stats of a website displaying Steem posts. I would say a portion of overall views are from search engine results just like with any website. That's why quality posts that are original are highly needed.
It also depends on what the content is. If it's a guide on how to make something, maybe a recipe or a tutorial of some kind then it should always be relevant. As for commenting on them, barely any old posts get commented on, people generally view it as a waste of time.
But i think this is a problem.
Like for example on youtube how to video's can stay relevant for very long. Giving every day views and a whole bunch of comments.
Even for a normal wordpress blogging website this is more the case.
I think Steemit is not a good platform to display high quality content because there is no engagement to begin with. This is good for some updates but for other things i think a personal website is much better.
The rankings of Steemit are even not that good, we used to rank very good for cryptocurrency related keywords but that traffic dropped a lot since the bull market.
Indeed most content is read only within the first day(s). However, there is some high quality content I read by searching via Google!
This is also the most promising marketing mechanism for Steemit - our content!!!

With the search function or linked in newer posts. I read them sometimes about special themes.

I sometimes search up a post about a topic that is months old and upvote it using steem forever if it was helpful
