The First Step

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,200 footpath at runs from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. I planned to walk the entire length of the trail which runs almost the entire range of the Appalachian Mountains. I had no compass pointing to the magnitude of the undertaking. This is a picture of my first step on the trail. It is taken on March 31, 2017 at the summit of Springer Mountain.
