Writing can be therapy.

There is something very relieving about writing things down.

Don't worry, this isn't a manifesto or confession. It's more of a general thinking to myself on paper. I'm not sure what it is entirely that creates this feeling for people.

Maybe the fact it's written down, making it more permanent.

It's there and it's going nowhere.
I can't count the amount of genius that i've thought of at night or half asleep that wasn't there the next morning. So many great or mad ideas that were never written down and tried. Just that knowledge waking up that you had something in your grasp that has slipped away.

There is a permanency to the written word. You only have to look throughout history and see some of the great examples that have survived to this day. Books from thousand of years ago that can still teach us new things. Ancient manuscripts that have yet to be studied but the wisdom there to be read.


Maybe seeing it written in front of you lets you unscramble the thoughts in your head. I know how busy it can get there at times and how full your mind can feel when there are a thousand thought baying for attention at once. I'm sure we have all lain there at night trying to sleep while a hundred random ideas flood your brain. Just rattling around there as you try to work through them and put it to one side.

Seeing these thoughts in front of your eyes rather than behind them can make them form something resembling sense. They are there for a reason but it can often be tricky to figure out why. Dumbledore could use a pensieve to make those connections but unfortunately we must make do with a pen and paper.


Sometimes it can just be to lose yourself altogether. That feeling as you build a fantasy through your words. Building characters word by word and layer by layer. Each sentence another thread to tie it all together. There is a magic behind the written word that has endured despite all of the technological advancements. Being able to put them together in such a way that they can inspire generations to chase a dream or believe in something impossible.

I've always liked to read and have even tried to write at times. Now I will probably never write a best seller but I can always throw my thoughts down here so that I can come back to them. We have that option here. Not only that we have other like minded people to discuss and advise as we go along. I am almost tempted to try and pull out that book i started years ago and try to put it all together. And maybe I will some night. Until then I can just keep organizing my thoughts so that it all makes sense.
