This weeks contest by @healthy steem is about a tropic that has been a subject of controversy in various spheres of life, professions, ages and even continents. The topic is about alcohol.
Through this contest, I am going to help us see the damages alcohol can cause to us as individuals and to our families in extension. And you will also find out if it is totally wrong or bad to take alcohol. Let's start
When can we say that a person is an alcoholic? Give reasons for your answer!
An alcoholic is a person who drinks a lot of alcohol and is literally dependent on it. It is usually impossible for that person restrain himself so long as alcohol is concerned and he cannot do without it. At this point it becomes a mainstay in his life. Any day he did not take a bottle.of beer, his life would not be complete.
Alcoholics usually prioritize drinking amidst other family obligations, work and he experiences some kind of adverse effects or symptoms, when they try to withdraw.
In the event where those items or substances are not within reach. Their joy and happiness evaporates immediately.
🍺 Do you think alcohol is a drug? justify your answer!
A drug is any substance you assimilate or take inside your body that alters your body normal system or your mental state.
Once anything is capable of doing so, then it is a drug.
So what are the properties of this ethanol? It is an anti depressant which produces the effect of intoxication. It has the capability of giving it's user instant but not lasting happiness, makes a person be in a state of euphoria, as if the person is flying in the air. It inhibits the persons functioning of the memory, sensory and nervous body system and increases the sociability of the person. The person feels nausea, aggressive and lacks selfcontrol.
So it is obvious that Alcohol is a drug.
Can alcoholism be considered a disease? How to control it!
It is a disease too. A disease affects an individual's entire health. Alcohol does the same thing to a person. Hence it requires treatment.
There are various forms of treatment to be taken by an alcoholic.
Like a sick person, visiting a professional doctor for Detoxification will be appropriate. This is done to reduce the desire to drink which may involve giving him some medications.
There are vitamins that can help to enhance normal body function and development which he will be placed on.
Abstinence is also a major treatment for alcohol victim. The individual needs to view alcohol as a plague.
Avoid being where it is sold or consumed to avoid the urge. He will jave to stay away from it.
🍺Is every drinker considered an alcoholic?
Not all alcohol consumers are alcoholics. Provided the person does not display the behavioural characteristics of an alcoholic, then he is not.
While it is not bad to take in alcohol, it should be taken with moderation.
Conclusion
An alcoholic can be said to be a drug addict because they behave in a similar way. He also can be said to need treatment as a sick person.
But it doesn't mean that alcohol is bad. It can be taken in moderation.

All alcoholics are drug addicts and it's the worst drug to get rid of once the person is addicted.why,because most alcoholics don't agree that it's a drug which is destroying their lives and healthy slowly and silently.
Happiness and building friendships is all alcoholics think as they sip it but not thinking that all that is short term and the disadvantages are long-term.
It takes God's grace for one to stop drinking once they are addicts just like any other drug.

I agree with you that not all alcohol consumers are alcoholic. One becomes an alcoholic when there is excessive intake of that substance. And the fact is that a lot of responsibilities are abandoned because of alcohol especially when the person involved is an addict.
I have a friend who would sell his properties for alcohol, his addict was so bad but how he managed to escape it, I can't explain.

I'm so glad I visited your post. I learnt that alcohol is a drug as it contains anti depressant which gives temporary happiness. You also stressed alcoholics cannot do without the alcohol, it is their life support. Success in the challenge and may the best contestant win the challenge.
