Lecture day at Akwaibom State university Obio Akpan

My lectures are scheduled to be on Fridays and Saturdays every weekend. With the timetable out, I have to make arrangements to be in school each weekend. Sadly, I wasn't able to be there last weekend because I was seriously ill. But I made efforts not to miss out totally.

I informed my course mates, then loaded data for one of my course mates who will call me on WhatsApp call whenever a lecturer is in so that I can at least listen to the lectures. That was what happened last weekend.

Thankfully, this weekend, I am stronger and so, I had to leave my home at Aba, Abia State to travel to the school. Since the lectures were to begin today by 12noon, I was able to get to the school before then.

Meanwhile, I had an agent who took me to some houses around the school for me to check out if I would like to rent so that I can stay around on weekends when I attend lectures. Yes, it is a need because from Abak where the school is located to where my house is costs 3200 naira (24 steem) to and from each day. Renting an apartment might be the best but I will have to share it with someone.

However, I was just shown the hostels. I have not made up my mind to pay for anyone yet. After showing me the rooms, I quickly went back to school for my lectures.

Today, we had our normal 3 different lecturers. The first lecturer wasn't around but another one took his time and lectures us on Micro Economics. We learned about indifference curve to understand the theory of consumer behaviour where we learned that there are certain combinations of goods in which the consumer is indifferent to. Both goods are satisfactory and so the consumer can always go for anyone of them or the combination of them.

We equally learnt about what utility means. To a consumer, it is that satisfaction that he or she gets from a given goods that they purchase. Satisfaction here can be ranked. We equally went ahead to learn about the properties of indifference curve

Then we went ahead to learn from a different lecture and a different course which is introduction to financial accounting and international reporting. Here, we looked at the components of profit or loss account and other income. We were able to learn how to get the gross profit or loss by solving some problems. Then we proceeded to getting the net profit by noting the components of the expenses that can be deducted to arrive at the net profit.

Then it was time for the next lecture which is cost and management accounting where we learned the difference between cost and management accounting and financial accounting. We also learned the difference between cost accounting and management accounting.

These lecturers got our attendance. According to them, attendance is mandatory though not compulsory. Lectures lasted for 2 hours each. So, from 12 noon to 6 pm is 3 lectures. By tomorrow, we will have 5 lectures, 2 hours each. There will be no breathing space if all of them should be present. Right now, I have gone to my house, preparing for tomorrow. I have a little of notes to copy owing to the fact that I wasn't there last weekend. I really need to read. Meanwhile, we have been given an assignment to be submitted next week Friday. I have to get it ready too.

School has begun in Ernest. I have to buckle up. I am glad that most of the topics are coming back to my mind ever since I left school.

Meanwhile, we are still on break from my place of employment. We will start this November. I am getting ready too.
