Five keys to increasing your happiness on Steemit

in #steemit10 years ago

Most of us desire to be happy and productive. But what makes us truly happy? And how can our Steemit experiences be filled with excitement rather than frustration?

Here are 5 tips for becoming a happier steemian:

1. Don’t become obsessed with why your posts are not receiving votes from our highly esteemed Whales

Cramming your post with as many Whales as you can think of won’t necessarily get you the votes you desire. Nor, is it advisable to harass and pester Whales to vote for you. Rather than allowing your frustrations to simmer to boiling point about why @steemed, @dantheman, @nextgencrypto, @newyo, @justin, @complexring, @steempower, or @ned didn’t vote for your masterpiece; You may want to take a more subtle approach. (cough, cough, nudge nudge)

2. Give thanks for and celebrate the 11 votes and $0.04 you managed to accumulate.

Instead of despairing about why the two hours you spent on writing your post only netted a final figure of $0.04, celebrate your hard earned money. That’s double the amount for my first post!

That’s right, celebrate baby!!!

When our focus shifts from fixating on what we do not have, to focusing on giving thanks for what we do have, our lives will all be happier, and a ripple effect will result as those around us will be affected by our joy.

If anyone is wondering, yes that’s my son. The cutest kid in the world! Obviously entirely subjective and no bias at all.

O yes, back to your $0.04, over time, once Steemit becomes a world phenomenom, your $0.04 will increase in value by many fold and may eventually be enough to buy you a #smoothie!

3. Enjoy your smoothie!

A shoutout to @healthyrecipes for sharing some amazing smoothie recipes with the Steemit community. I definitely need to get around to trying some of those.

Now, I enjoy my smoothies and ice-creams, but you may not. Your smoothie may be a nice strong coffee, or a stroll by the lake, or a time to reflect and journal. My point is, take time out from your regular routines to do something that refreshes you.

Steemit is a great environment for us to make some money and share our creativity along the way, but if you are becoming obsessed, frustrated or burnt out on this great platform, then it might be a sign for you to take a break from Steemit and go do something else for a while that you enjoy. Once you are refreshed, come back and be ready to smash it out of the park again!

4. Spend quality time with your loved ones

At the end of our lives, most of us won’t care about how much money we’ve made, or what possessions we have accumulated over time. But hopefully we will reflect back on the fond memories of experiences we shared with our loved ones.

My 2 year old son has brought so much joy to my life. His infectious smile, the first time he called me baba (daddy), every time he gives me a huge hug after I return home from a tough day at work… These are the things that make life truly enjoyable.

5. The final key to happiness on Steemit… Well that will need to be for another day.

Time for me to have my smoothie!
