What is The Talos Principle?

As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do about it?
The world is filled with over 120 different puzzles that you must complete to advance. As you complete more puzzles you start to earn different objects that you can use within the puzzles. You will explore a story about humanity, technology and civilisation and will need to uncover clues devise theories and make your own mind up. The game is completely non linear and you can choose the puzzles that you want to complete, and when you want to complete them.

My Opinion

You can easily get lost in the world of The Talos Principle, each different area is completely different to another and all look just as detailed and fantastic. The puzzles get increasingly more difficult as you work your way through them, and you can easily spend hours on this game each sitting without getting frustrated or bored. While playing, I get the same feeling that I had when I first played the Portal games, after each puzzle that you complete you feel a great sense of accomplishment and just want to jump into the next. There's not much narration, but every time the narrator does pop up, he usually has something witty to say that slowly builds a story up for who you are and why you are there. If you are a fan of games that make you think, puzzle games or the portal games, then this is defiantly one you should look into. It's probably the best game of it's type that I have played since portal 2!

Game Reviews

"An excellent, challenging puzzle game. Music and visuals are beautiful. The story is capturing and makes you think about philosophical existential themes. Easter eggs in the game are fun to find." - nelrid (Steam Review)

“Very, very good game. It brings up real philosophical questions, somewhat akin to SOMA, while relying on a strong basis with well-made and entertaining puzzles. The bits of story we get are fascinating and the interactions with a certain character are just as captivating; some of the choices really make you think.
Overall, great game, especially for those who like puzzles, obviously.” – Seseau (Steam Review)
