What is Little Inferno?
Little Inferno is a very clever Indie game that is different from any other that I have played. You are sat in front of your new Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace and the goal is to throw all your toys into the fire and play with them or watch them burn! You are given a manual which allows you to buy the items that you want to burn, and as you burn each item, you unlock another. The goal is to get through all of the items in the game, advancing in the story. Little Inferno is an interactive story that mocks us for fixating on repetitive, unproductive activity's and ignoring the world around us.
'You might think that Little Inferno sounds boring, but even though it willfully and intentionally wastes your time, it's not a waste of time itself. The creepy atmosphere, the single-minded focus on extremely minimal actions, and the mocking self-awareness all contribute to a deft statement on games and how we play them. And even though it gleefully wastes our time, it doesn't waste too much of it – it might take you a few hours to complete, even with a healthy bit of screwing around.'
My Opinion
This is one of my most favourite indie games that I have ever played. It may sound easy and boring, but the letters that you are sent really do make the game interesting and add that story element that I find fantastic. Even years after I purchased this game and completed it, I still find myself jumping on every once in a while to burn some of my belongings, maybe its the pyromania in me. If I could recommend one indie game for you to take a look at, it would be this. Who doesn't enjoy setting things on fire from the safety of your home?
